                   Analysts and Institutional Investors Forum

14 October 2003

AMEC plc, the international engineering services company, is this evening
hosting a forum for analysts and institutional investors to meet, and discuss
current issues with operational management.

Carlos Riva, head of UK businesses and chairman of AMEC Americas; Jean Monville,
responsible for continental European operations, and John Early, responsible for
Investments, will join Sir Peter Mason KBE, Chief Executive and Stuart Siddall,
Finance Director for the event.

Copies of slides presented at the event will be available on the AMEC plc
website (at www.amec.com - investors - presentations) from 16:30 on 14 October
2003.

At the event, Sir Peter Mason will confirm that the outlook for 2003 remains in
line with the Board's earlier expectations. The second half of the year is
expected to show a marked improvement compared with last year and AMEC should
make sound progress in the year as a whole.

Longer term prospects look encouraging, with a number of external indicators
suggesting that major industrial clients are once again planning to make
substantial capital investments. This, if sustained, will directly benefit AMEC.
The Board is confident of a return to organic growth in 2004, but needs to see
further evidence of major capital investment before it can predict just how
strong that growth will be.
