PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aberdeen Global Income Fund, Inc. (the "Fund") (NYSE Amex: FCO), a closed-end bond fund, announced today its performance data and portfolio composition as of December 31, 2009. The Fund's total returns for various periods through December 31, 2009 are provided below. As of December 31, 2009, the Fund's net assets, including US$30 million in bank borrowing, amounted to US$135.6 million with a net asset value per share of common stock of US$11.71. As of December 31, 2009, 69.2% of the portfolio was invested in securities where either the issue or the issuer was rated "A" or better, or judged by the Investment Manager to be of equivalent quality. A revolving credit loan facility, in the amount of $30,000,000, was entered into on March 7, 2008 with the Bank of Nova Scotia, in order to fund the redemption of the Fund's Auction Market Preferred Stock ("AMPS") that took place in March 2008. The leverage is used with the intent of enhancing returns by borrowing at interest rates that are lower than the relatively higher yields of the emerging market fixed income securities in which the Fund invests. The Fund has entered into interest rate swap agreements in order to fix the interest payable on an aggregate notional amount of $21 million, which represents 70% of the bank loan facility. Details regarding the revolving credit loan facility and the interest rate swap agreements are contained in the Fund's annual and semi-annual reports to shareholders.
