ZYT to launch new solutions at ISE 2016 (as I'm sure we all know, that's Integrated Systems Europe 2016....):

"Zytronic to launch new touch solutions at ISE 2016
2 December 2015

Zytronic has announced its focus for ISE 2016 will be the manufacturer’s new 85in 4K touchscreen as well as a curved multi-touch kiosk, and a new object recognition function for touch tables.

The trend in retail and other sectors is for larger screens to create exciting customer experiences, and demand for touchscreens of 55in diagonal and above is rapidly growing. Zytronic can now create bespoke touchscreens of up to 85in diagonal, with 4K resolution, able to detect over 40 simultaneous touch points, and capable of operating in harsh environments.

Zytronic’s curved multi-touch kiosk (pictured) will also be on show for the first time at ISE. The unit features a single edge to edge printed, toughened and curved glass multi-touch interface combining a 40in main screen and a 19in waist-height, button deck. The twin display/single glass surface is managed by two ZXY200 multi-touch controllers.

Finally, Zytronic will demonstrate its object recognition functionality, a development aimed at touch tables in retail applications and based on its Multi-touch Projected Capacitive (MPCT) touch technology.

Ian Crosby, sales and marketing director commented: “For many applications, the fact that projected capacitive touch technology ignores non-conductive objects contacting the surface is a definite advantage. However, some retail uses, would benefit from the touchscreen recognising specific objects placed upon its surface, and this is something that we are now able to offer.”"

Nice mention on T.M.F may have caused a little interest - and it doesn't even mention the cash pile:

"Meanwhile, touchscreen manufacturer Zytronic (LSE: ZYT) has enjoyed a very prosperous 2015, with the company set to deliver an increase in its bottom line of 21%. As such, its shares have risen by 26% since the turn of the year and, looking ahead to next year, more growth could be on the cards since Zytronic is forecast to increase its net profit by 8%.

Although Zytronic trades on a forward price to earnings (P/E) ratio of 15, it still appears to offer good value for money when its track record is taken into account. For example, in the last four years it has been able to increase earnings at an annualised rate of 7% and, with a niche product in a growing industry, it appears to be well-positioned to continue its excellent run of growing profitability. And, with Zytronic yielding 3.1% from a dividend which is covered twice by profit, it is a relatively appealing small-cap income play, too."

Great little company this one. Turnover growth, low capex, no debt and fantastic cash flow. A rare breed of company. I think investors have overlooked this little gem and some of the new applications for its products. Very much a niche company but very promising indeed. Schroders buying is always a positive sign.

From the trading update in October

"Further to the outlook statement made with the interim results on 19 May 2015, the second half showed an improvement in revenues over that reported for the first half. This was particularly marked over the last quarter, resulting in a 13% increase in total revenues for the year above that reported for 2014."
(my bold)

I'm keen to know if the last quarter improvement has continued when they announce full year prelims next Tuesday.

ZYT's Technical Director on touchscreen design:

"Opinion: the challenge of large touchscreen design
25 November 2015

There is much more to creating a bigger touchscreen than simply cutting a larger piece of glass, says Zytronic technical director Andrew Morrison.

Touchscreen size is increasing in multi-player casino gaming tables, interactive exhibits in museums, multi-user design/architectural workstations, cataloguing and EPOS tables in retail outlets, car showrooms and bank branches; panels as large as 85in are becoming popular. The challenge is providing users with the touch experience offered by the latest smartphones and tablets but on a much larger screen and often in a much more demanding environment.

Projected capacitive technology (P-CAP) has captured the highest-volume touch categories of mobile phones and tablets, and manufacturers are now taking this technology to larger screens. To maintain touch performance in these larger sizes, they are improving speed, accuracy, electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity and integration.

etc"

New highs (just!), and on some reasonable volumes too by ZYT's standards.

In case anyone missed it, last night's late RNS confirmed the prelims will be on 8th December:

Since they will be "materially ahead of market expectations" I'm reasonably relaxed about them :o))

News - looks like quite a major contract win:

"Zytronic Delivers Outstanding Interactive Experience for Top Mobile Network
Tuesday 10th November 2015 03:40pm

Telefonica-owned South American communications network Movistar is rolling out Zytronic Projected Capacitive (PCAP™) touch sensors to deliver an exciting interactive multimedia experience at stores and kiosks in South America. PX Group, a regional interactive retail specialist, designed the store layouts and kiosks, and is building the hardware.

PX Group created a completely new concept for flagship Movistar stores featuring a touch video wall with three 50” or 46” touch screens allowing customers to browse while they are waiting, as well as a kiosk with a full product catalogue using a 40” screen. The design for the store and all the hardware were created by PX Group, and all the screens are implemented using Zytronic’s latest, rollable ZYFILM® Multi-touch Projected Capacitive Technology (MPCT™). The first stores, in Santiago, Chile and Asia, Peru, are now complete and the plan is to roll the concept out to a further 25 stores nationwide.

In addition, PX Group is creating new self-service kiosks for Movistar, which are located at 50 malls around the country. As well as mobile phones, Movistar offers TV, Internet and home phone services. Customers can access their accounts and upgrade their service at these kiosks. They are proving extremely popular – with PX Group reporting over 150,000 consultations per month.

Sales and innovation manager at PX Group, Anneliese Schemke, commented, “Movistar wanted to create an exciting digital experience for its customers in locations that see very intensive use. This project makes very exceptional demands on the touch screens. We chose Zytronic ZYFILM because of its accuracy and speed of response as well as its durability.

Zytronic’s ZYFILM is a flexible polyester touch foil suitable for temporary, semi-permanent and permanent touch applications depending on the method of lamination used when applying to the substrate material. In conjunction with Zytronic’s 5ms response speed multi-touch controllers, the foils are capable of detecting over 40 simultaneous touch points through a glass thickness of at least 10mm. Mounted on the rear of a protective substrate the projected capacitive sensor is highly resilient, requiring only a one-time calibration and very little maintenance through absence of drift. This makes it an ideal and cost-efficient solution for use in public places throughout the year".

Hmmm - following my rule that stocks typically retrace 33% from a breakout, I reckon we are about there so could be time to add a few more here.
