gill17: No Robert, I like Zoopla and will stay for £2.00. I just didn't like the market manipulation of the share price with very little volume. Hopefully it will settle down now, and if Zoopla has been badly affected they will have to put out a profit warning at some point.

macminchus: Robert I am only a small investor in the stock market so may not have the same experience. However, I don't understand how the price of houses or the number of transactions affect the share price of Zoopla. Lsl, countrywide, foxtons will benefit from transaction levels whereas Zoopla just get a fixed fee each month depending on how many agents subscribe, not how many houses agents sell. Zoopla is almost finished in our town. Just Lsl who advertising with them. Spoken to their franchisee the other day and they are worried as 7 agents in the town are telling people to go to otm not Rightmove or Zoopla as you will only see lsl's properties whereas if you want to see the majority of properties you need otm. Remember Zoopla offered agents a 20 percent discount to buy shares at the start. Only 20 percent did. To me that indicates that 80 percent of their customers are not confident of staying on Zoopla. The agents who stay are being offered massive discounts.

macminchus: None of them but I do own my own estate agents. In our area most of the independents have signed up as gold members. Either way come jan there is going to be a large reduction in members with either Rightmove or zoopla. As an investment, a reduction in the membership must affect profitability/share price. Strangely I actually think zoopla will come out of it better than Rightmove, but will it affect the business yes..... You can not ignore the fact that only 20 percent of agents took up the offer of shares in zoopla. I am not trying to get people to sign up to am... Just trying to give people an idea of the risk to their investment. If 80 percent of the agents did not buy the shares... What would happen if those same agents chose to leave in jan, what affect would that have on the share price (very much doubt that would happen but there is a risk come jan)
