I think the dispute over the 50 Billion EU funding for Ukraine between Hungary's Viktor Orban and the EU, may have been unsettling some Wizz investors with its links to Hungary.
Thankfully that now seems out of the way.

In comparison to Jet2 & EasyJet, Wizz should now be trading above 3100.
Nothing permanently bad has happened here, Wizz will catch back up very quickly when the sentiment changes, the growth plan will see Wizz shooting past both of them.

Oh and this today... which is positive about future prospects. Plus a director bought at just under £16 this morning.

Analysts at RBC Capital Markets lowered their target price on low-cost carrier Wizz Air from 3,400.0p to 3,200.0p on Friday following the group's interim results.
RBC Capital said it now forecasts net income of roughly €354.0m for Wizz in 2023/24, towards the lower end of the firm's €350.0m-400.0m guided range, and noted its largest downgrades were in 2024/25, reflecting guidance for flattish capacity.

However, the Canadian bank remained at 'outperform' on the stock, stating expectations on engine headwinds had now been rebased and said even a partial margin recovery offers scope for roughly 150% potential share price upside.

"We think delivery of Wizz Air's FY23/24E guidance will require a resilient 2H given the company's exposure to Israel, and engine challenges. Mgmt expects an improved unit revenue performance in 4Q (when capacity growth steps down to +15% from +25% in 3Q)," said RBC. "Whilst visibility should be limited, we also see this as likely (with Easter timing supportive in 4Q). However, this means proof of delivery on 2023/24E will need to wait until FY results on 23 May."

RBC added that it expects Wizz Air to be past the worst of aircraft groundings by the second half of next year, allowing focus to shift to longer-term prospects.

Not sure why this is bad for Wizz, RyanAir already running 35.3% to Wizz 22.7% and Wizz cost model is lower than RyanAirs once they get on a level footing with fuel pricing.

Think it is more good news for both with Eastern Europe being seen as a major place for a travel boom.

I think RyanAir would like to buy Wizz is they had half a chance, its low cost model is its biggest threat, but no chance of the major share holders selling up imo.

My summary of the Sunday Times article.

Wizz borrowed E1bn during the pandemic and is getting 41 new planes in 2024. Wizz’s strong cashflow will not make much of a dent in its debts due to the impact of higher interest rates on those aircraft deals. Net debt for 2023 hit €3.9 billion, almost 30 times its cash profit. Wizz also has reputational issues, topping the Civil Aviation Authority’s list of most-delayed flights last year for a second year in a row with an average delay of 46 minutes. Its 7.8 price-to-earnings ratio for 2024 is at a premium to many rivals, who trade at an average 6.6. Wizz Air has a significantly weaker balance sheet, with higher leverage than its peers. Jet2’s customers tend to be older and have higher incomes than those of the budget carriers, its reputation is far stronger and its management is in good hands. Sell Wizz, buy Jet2.

RETURN TO SYSTEMIC JET FUEL HEDGINGLSE: WIZZ Geneva, 16 June 2022: Wizz Air Holdings Plc ("Wizz Air" or "the Company"), the fastest growing and one of the most sustainable European airlines, today announces it will be returning to a systemic jet fuel hedge policy. During the earlier phases of the Covid-19 crisis, key players in the airline industry, including Wizz Air, were severely impacted with significant financial hedge losses. As a result, during that time and as agreed with its Board of Directors, Wizz Air moved to a no hedge policy to avoid hedge losses in the future. In Europe however, key competitors continued to hedge, albeit at lower coverage levels versus pre-pandemic. Given the sustained and ongoing volatility in commodity prices Wizz Air has decided to reinstate a hedging policy and aligning its policy to those of its peers. As a result, the Company will: 1. Mirror hedge coverage levels of our main peers as of F24 - leveling the playing field on jet fuel prices.2. Put additional jet fuel price caps in place for H2 F23 - limiting the exposure for the Company should further extreme volatility in jet fuel prices be observed in market. This revised policy was approved by the Board and will be executed over the next few weeks, and the systemic hedge policy will be rolled forward quarterly, 18 months out, with coverage levels over time reaching indicatively between 65% for the first quarter of the hedging horizon and 15% for the last quarter of the hedging horizon. The Company will equally hedge transactional USD exposure with regards to jet fuel. József Váradi, Wizz Air Group Chief Executive Officer commented on the results: "Wizz Air has a superior competitive advantage on its fleet, enabling lower operating cost and lower fuel burn versus any major player in the industry. Equally Wizz Air has a sustainable competitive advantage given its exposure to a faster growing CEE footprint, characterized by higher GDP growth and market growth. To fully benefit from our key sustainable competitive advantages, Wizz Air will return to neutralizing fuel price as a competitive differentiator. This will allow us to focus on what we are best at - attracting consumers into our franchise at the lowest fares versus competition, enabled by lowest cost, operated by the youngest fleet in a fast growing region." ABOUT WIZZ AIRWizz Air, Europe's fastest growing and most sustainable ultra-low-cost airline, operates a fleet of 154 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. A team of dedicated aviation professionals delivers superior service and very low fares, making Wizz Air the preferred choice of 40 million passengers in the financial year F20 ending 31 March, 2020 and 27.1 million passengers in the financial year F22 ending 31 March 2022. Wizz Air is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker WIZZ. The company was recently named one of the world's top ten safest airlines by airlineratings.com, the world's only safety and product rating agency, and 2020 Airline of the Year by ATW, the most coveted honour an airline or individual can receive, recognizing individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves through outstanding performance, innovation, and superior service. Wizz Air was also rated the most sustainable airline in Europe by Sustainalytics in January 2022.
