27/9/2016 09:29 | AIUI there was a commitment in the admission document to pay a 4p dividend for the current financial year, increasing to 6p next year. I have not read said document but I have seen this commitment mentioned several times. | shanklin
27/9/2016 09:23 | Have put divi into header calendar. | jonwig
27/9/2016 09:18 | I thought we already knew about dividends? | shanklin
27/9/2016 09:17 | Jonwig... Perhaps in the header you could mention DIVIDENDS.. | spellbrook
27/9/2016 09:07 | Looking at the geographical spread, it's clear why they have an aeroplane! The alternative - a network of regional offices - would be more expensive. Bullish signal would be: purchase of a second aeroplane ... I've also e-mailed them asking if they might consider holding their first AGM somewhere in the north. (Manchester, Chester, Bangor suggested.) | jonwig
27/9/2016 07:56 | Very pleased that I invested here. Good transparency and as Spellbrook says "does what it says" etc. Seems like a solid business model in a growing market place and with a BOD that is experienced. | 2vdm

24/9/2016 14:51 | Hi Jonwig Wasn't meant as a criticism and didn't know if a header could be changed. It's a great thread, not populated by the usual craziness but I'm sure the circus will arrive at some point! | return_of_the_apeman
24/9/2016 12:11 | r_o_t_a ... sorry, can't change the header! When WJG announced it was to float, I grabbed shares as soon as I could, being already an investor in a couple of student REITs. The prospectus does mention PRS, but students are the main source of revenue and profits pro tem. | jonwig
24/9/2016 11:32 | Good point Spellbrook. The thread title looks a bit dated given that wjg are expanding into other markets. Bought this originally due to the transparency of the business model expecting modest growth and good divis, now it has significant extra growth opportunities which it seems to be already exploiting :-) | return_of_the_apeman
24/9/2016 10:01 | Interesting read of another side to the company.... By Rhiannon Bury 9 JUNE 2016 • 1:23PM Property developer Watkin Jones is gearing up for a push into the private rented sector, as its first financial results since it floated showed a boost to revenues. The company, which primarily develops and manages student accommodation across the UK, has launched a new property management platform called Five Nine Living that will enable it to run purpose-built rental blocks. It is currently building its first private rented scheme in Leeds, which will be completed next year. ADVERTISING Mark Watkin Jones, chief executive, said his company's investment partners had encouraged the firm to grow into the private rented sector. “An opportunity exists for our residential business, with the potential for Watkin Jones to apply its student accommodation model to the development and management of purpose-built PRS schemes,” he said. It already has a growing student accommodation management platform, called Fresh Student Living, through which it plans to operate 18,000 student beds across the UK by 2020. Watkin Jones develops the buildings and then sells them to investors. The management platforms enable it to keep some of the rental income that the properties generate. The company, which listed on the Stock Exchange in March, said today that revenue for the six months to March 31 was up 40.6pc to £145.9m, compared to £103.8m at the same point last year. When the cost of the IPO and other expenditure was factored in, the company made a pre-tax loss of £9.9m during the period. In the first half of the previous financial year it made £9m profit. Shares in Watkin Jones have risen from 104p to around 115p since the company floated, an increase of around 10.5pc | spellbrook
24/9/2016 07:26 | Chief Executive Mark Watkin Jones said: “This development when completed, will service students at the University of Chester and the University of Law and we are pleased to have added the Hunter Street site to our already impressive portfolio in Chester. The demand for student accommodation is growing and this latest scheme adds further validation to our business model.” | spellbrook

23/9/2016 08:32 | Definitely a growing market , with spin offs for selling on, renting and management, commercial and residential....great growth IMO for WJG.... Smaller developer Watkin Jones’ float earlier this year showed that there is plenty of interest in owning a slice of student accommodation developers. The company was today trading at 116p, having floated at 100p. In the days following the referendum it too saw its share price slide, but the recovery suggests that the market is resilient, and expected to grow. | spellbrook
23/9/2016 08:26 | Buying coming in at the full 118p offer price. It's beginning to look like the seller(s) which have held the share price back have disappeared, or are at least running out of steam. | rivaldo |
