Posted at 23/7/2007 18:45 by aim_trader Nice Article From Proactive Investors!"....SPI, as the number two in the fibre laser market, also has a flavour of takeover potential about it, but as the company is still expanding in a fledging market, it would seem a bit too soon to be dreaming of a hefty takeover premium just yet. At the moment, SPI doesn't need any help with its share price anyway; since listing, the shares have performed well, and the company managed to raise an additional £10 million in working capital, at 200 pence per share, in addition to the £12 million raised at 140 pence on the Initial Public Offering ('IPO') and has strong institutional support. As the company is still trading at a loss, profit to earnings ratios are pretty useless at this point, so it is up to the individual to decide what valuation is realistic, given the noteworthy growth potential, yet sizeable market valuation compared to revenues." |

Posted at 26/10/2005 08:27 by mikehardman SPI Lasers is the new name for Southampton Photonics; it develops and manufactures modulated and pulsed fibre lasers for cutting, welding, micro-machining, materials processing, marking and printing.SPI began in 2000 as a maker of telecom components, but started to expand rapidly upon venturing into fibre laser manufacturing in 2003. The move onto AIM will allow SPI to continue its expansion in 2005-6; the funds are expected to allow a wave of new products to reach the market in the near future.
