Well it turns out the top kill wasn't successful and BP is now talking about using a lower marine riser package cap

Well that's nice to know - at 5 in the morning I don't think a lot of people are too worried about the list of the threads -

The latest news is that there are unconfirmed reports that the top fill has been successful - and BP share price has moved up a bit today - still too early to buy though IMHO

You already have done; this will become apparent as the posts add up.

Putting this thread to the top of the list is another issue but I suspect it may not be a problem: a lot of investors (and others) will be interested.

Directors options show where they expect the share price to get to in the relative near term. I think they are more likely to be bought out and this is unlikely to be less than £1. CFO has experience with that and in the medium term is bringing better financial control to spending. As the vast majority of shares are held by institutions and seem to have been pretty supportive so far it shouldn't take much interest to move share price quickly. DYOR.

Large trades today after trading update yesterday - rns director buying tuesday? A few years ago at a university visit I saw some of the amazing things being done with lazers - I think that the surface is only being scratched at the moment. The year on year turnover growth is pretty impressive, so break even this year could easily be possible or they could get taken out. Judging by the activity on this BB I'm probably talking to myself anyway ;-)

Still talking to myself because I like the technology. Accounts are not impressive. Loss making at production level before admin costs etc.

Pious words on hoping to achieve breakthrough, HOWEVER useful level of sales but appear to be being sold at a loss - Nothing that I could see apart from "words" as to whether new platforms were profitable on a fully costed basis (including ovverheads).

Note to self:- Keep finger off the buy button.

A bit soon in the life of this baby to draw charts but this shows that 20p is possible and could hold there.

DU>Would have made a lot on that short - If I was able to short. IYou may well see your 20p or less - Unless there is some very good news soon.

PUGUGLY - my sentiments exactly, this will at 30p have a market cap of around £20m

a turnover of £14m and loss of £10m = £20m market cap - I think not. I see this closer to 20p given 2nd half is not better than first...probably worth a short at 50p, but until new stock hits the market price may be irratic based on low volume so risky short until then

Sorry for all holders - I knew business was bad but this is a real disaster for holders. It would appear from the price that the intrinsic value of the business is not what it it was portrayed initially.

If only I had shorted !!

Cannot se a PI being prepared to pay more than 35p and (imo) if little progress by the next trading statement can see it slipping below the rights price. Any other views?

DAFAD - correct, but I don't think anyone saw a dilution this high at 30p per share coming(!) sorry for any holders

The fundraising comprises not only institutional placings of new ordinary
shares, which will raise #8.5 million (net), but also a strategic investment by
The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. ("FEC") of #2 million (the "Investment"). The
institutional placings (the "First Placing" and the "Second Placing", together
the "Placings") and the Investment comprise the issue of an aggregate of
36,302,082 new ordinary shares of 2.5 pence each in the Company ("Ordinary
Shares") at 30 pence per share (the "Placing Price"). The Placings will also
include an investment of 170,000 new Ordinary Shares by certain members of the
board of SPI. The Placings are underwritten by Panmure Gordon.

Just dropped by on the fall today - Hit one of my screens. After a quick look 1st impressions are that this is another over hyped British technology "breakthrough" which has been hit the usual British failures - An inability to develop ROBUST commercial products, and an inability to SELL.

It appears to be a high cash burner and in the current market I would not be surprised to see the share price continue to drift. (imo & dyor)

If I am wrong I am sure someone on this thread will point out my errors.

Nice Article From Proactive Investors!

"....SPI, as the number two in the fibre laser market, also has a flavour of takeover potential about it, but as the company is still expanding in a fledging market, it would seem a bit too soon to be dreaming of a hefty takeover premium just yet. At the moment, SPI doesn't need any help with its share price anyway; since listing, the shares have performed well, and the company managed to raise an additional £10 million in working capital, at 200 pence per share, in addition to the £12 million raised at 140 pence on the Initial Public Offering ('IPO') and has strong institutional support. As the company is still trading at a loss, profit to earnings ratios are pretty useless at this point, so it is up to the individual to decide what valuation is realistic, given the noteworthy growth potential, yet sizeable market valuation compared to revenues."

This company continues to issue excellent news. It has now established a secondary revenue source and has good primary revenue from repeat business. The second half of this year will continue in the same manner which makes for obvious increase in the share price from this base.
