IRG's Egyptian assets? That comprises a tiny 25% holding in an small, rapidly depleting oilfield + 2 small undeveloped discoveries. Also, its out in the Western Desert, well away from SDX's sphere of operations which are along the Nile and in the Eastern Desert. North has not been a great operator on that asset.

It has no scaleability so I do not see the point in SDX taking it up. Its a miniscule opportunity and will probably be a waste of time at best. Consider this, IRG took up that asset after oil prices crashed, now they are throwing the towel in.

I remember SOLO and AEX strike the first day it only rose about 10%. The big rise came in the days following!!!

Slightly OT. But I wonder if SDX would be interested in buying IRG's assets given todays announcement that IRG intend to exit Egypt...

"The Company confirms that it does not see significant value in its Italian and Egyptian assets and has already therefore begun preparations to exit those positions, subject to any necessary shareholder approvals. The Company confirms it is in discussions with a third party to sell its Egyptian asset and will update the market further as appropriate. The Tunisian portfolio remains under review."

SDX already have a working relationship with North and the licence looks interesting for development...

"The concession also includes two gas discoveries mentioned by TransGlobe on 28 August 2013 and 3 September 2014 in North Dabaa 1X and North Dabaa 2X respectively. North Dabaa 1X tested at an average rate of 16 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) and 1,620 barrels per day of condensate. North Dabaa 2X tested at 18.7 MMCFD and 542 barrels per day of condensate. No reserves have been attributed for these discoveries."

opened at just 53/54 which is a bit lower than my estimate of 56/57 based on the TSX close yesterday, but I'm expecting it to rise from here; trades already going through at 54/55

For the longer term this last quote from PW is very encouraging:
