Milkeran,cv just sent off,:-)what do u reckon the starting salary is around £100k,sounds nice,plus perks,
Locket,agree,should have to back up their claims,with their own cash,cant remember for a long time a week with so many upgrades/downgrades,was actually a stock on Monday cant remember which one,might have been vivendi,was changed 3 timews during the course of 1 day,was first a sell,then a hold,then a buy,:-)all by the same guy,never seen anything like it,talk about hedging your bets :-)

The banking industry is having a particularly hard time at the moment and so things can only improve.
People are borrowing more and more money, interest rates are going up, so they'll have to borrow even more and house prices will have to rise to cover their borrowing requirements.
And whats more its all inflation free!
Not to mention we are in the insurance sector also.
Premiums on the up - great news for profits.
And dont forget pensions - the premiums are way up to.
So stack up on Lloyds.
Its going fast

as traders surely we need liquidity. it makes no difference wether the mkt goes up or down as long as there is liquidity. surely if analysts are up grading/downgrading all the time this creates liquidity, and as long as there is movement why be concerned which way.

Time Traveller, saw your note late last night I'm afraid, altho I did see SCTN at 460, by the time I'd checked L2 etc it had gone off up again. Still long from 471 as well :-(

FRIENDS PROVIDENT - anybody know what the theoretical dilution affect of the convertible bond issue is?180m issue,market cap 2264m,discount 25/34%.ABOUT 3-3.5% BUT I'M NOT SURE.

agree - it's heads they win,tails they can't lose,fat bonuses if they get it right,fat salary if they get it wrong - am I jealous? - of course I am !
People criticise pundits/brokers ramping/deramping shares they hold/short.I take the opposite view - they should be made to back their judgenent with their own cash - I see about 2/300 recs every week - I bet that number would fall drastically if that were the case

cant understand how these brokers/analysts have such a big influence on the market,who actually acts on their opinions,lets be honest,most are either bent or useless,so how come they still have such a big effect,surely the big institutions dont follow each other as from past experience they must all know they usually get it wrong,or do they,and use it to manipulate the markets to whatever suits,recent broker blunders,buy note on my travel day before it dived,buy note on cw day before results,result ,dived,along with my holding :-(,shp tons of buy notes,then dives 40%,anyone know of any analyst jobs going in the city,reckon i could match their incompetence :-)

If I long the FTSE, would I have covered the spread by lunchtime? ;-))

Just watching the usual, but was impressed by buying strength of AVZ in last night's auction.

tonyj - good book once you filter all the re-iterations out. Had a fairly profound effect on me.
