dvi,

Correct address. Unless it arrived in my junk box and I immediately deleted it, I haven't seen it.

I remain a buyer of SIGG though and am convinced it will be one of my successes over the next two years, even if currency slightly against us in December. It will be interesting to speak to the new management in January.

There must have been biggish sellers for stock to suddenly be available at 54.1p yesterday although I see the offer was slightly higher today.

dvi,

No problem, I just dislike mentioning other companies on a board I post on, especially as there might be a host of them.

I got them at 50.5p last time but with new management starting in a few weeks, I hope they don't go that low! Probably best to keep ideas on BBs. I can see where you are posting, so will get an idea.

Disappointing to see the price drop again on seemingly no business. I've got orders in at 50p should they get there.

Tiltonboy, well I am a buyer of SPL, SIGG, in that order of preference at the moment. Holder of HSD, TLI, CIC and CAT. Seller of DGE, ULVR, RB., ABF, TATE, HICL.

Generally keen to buy assets with a low correlation to equities and bonds after almost four years of central bank manipulation of markets. DYOR etc

Anything I should be looking at?

dvi,

I'm a value investor so we will meet on similar boards. Always open to researched ideas, so if you have got anything, feel free to share your ideas.

I bought more at 54.1p so probably someone selling at 53.5p. Although I was hoping that NAV would increase in November, it is still 91.8p and with 31p+ expected back by August, I still feel the patient investor will be rewarded over 2 or 3 years.

tiltonboy - unless you are on every BB, we seem to have similar strategies!

Me too Tiltonboy but I paid 55.39p so you win! I remember the day I picked some up at 50.5p during the credit crisis and how unpopular they were on that day. As you say, NAV nudged up in October and I would be surprised if the November NAV wasn't closer to 93p due to currency moves.

Panic and irrationality provides opportunities but that doesn't make it easy to be in the minority.

Somebody really does not want to own these!

A new manager coming on board at the start of the year, an October NAV that has been slightly upgraded, and still they go down.

Picked up more stock today at 55.25p.

If income not important and happy to accept some risk then perhaps 5%, but more if happy to accept the obvious risk of buying illiquid assets.

I view it as a three year zero dividend preference share where I hope to acheive 7% per annum. As markets closed today, there was 100k on offer at 56.1p so I am working at that buying price.

If we assume a return of 31p per share in August 2013 (previously announced liquidity profile) then Gottex only need to raise 36.76p from the remaining 61p of assets by January 2016, after fees. This looks reasonably undemanding but perhaps I am overestimating the potential liquidity of the property assets and the three sidepockets, although I did hear that these are conservatively valued.

They could do much better but I am cautious about every asset class these days due to the manipulations of Central Banks.

You might see it as a useful diversifier and with returns of capital, it is tax efficient for many. For UK holders, maximum 28% tax on capital gains if you have already used your full annual CGT allowance - if not then it is equivalent to 11.5% income for a 40% taxpayer or 9% income for a 20% taxpayer.

Also don't forget currency risk as 80% linked to US$. This should have added 1% in November with US$/Sterling moving from $1.62 to $1.60 but no idea about the underlying asset price movement over the month. Further QE in the USA and currency could work against UK holders but weakness in equity markets on one hand or an end to QE on the other could help.

DYOR etc

This guy is the connection to Gottex. In passing, it is interesting to see that he is also Chairman of MedicX Fund. It looks a diverse and interesting team at Gottex.

Mr. David Staples has been Non-Executive Director of Gottex Fund Management Holdings Limited since 2007. He is Member of the Company's Independent Director Committee and Chairman of the Company's Audit Committee. He was a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) from 1990 to 2003 and Head of Tax for the South-East Region of the United Kingdom. Prior to that he was Head of Tax Training and worked in both the Audit and Financial Services teams. Since leaving PWC, Mr. Staples has worked as Private Financial and Business Consultant. He is Member of the Board of a number of companies including MedicX Fund Limited as Chairman, Aberdeen Private Equity Fund Limited, Henderson Far East Income Limited, Duet Real Estate Finance Limited and Signet Global Fixed Income Strategies Limited. He is also on the Board of four of Apax's private equity funds. He is Treasurer of the Millennium Tapestry Trust. Clearly there is now some property assets but feel that the current management were hoping to surprise on the upside in 2013 with a large chunk of "unknown" liquidity. Under promise, over deliver.

For example, I hear that Rosneft is involved in Double Haven Temple (Vietnam) so perhaps some of these assets are not as rubbish as they first seem. Can someone confirm Rosneft's involvement?

Don't forget that this was originally supposed to start winding up in mid 2013 but some of us wanted to start the process earlier. This means that certain investments were always going to be illiquid until 2013/14. This is arguably what the arbs didn't realise when they piled in and forced the wind up but some of us did.

We can all get things wrong and certainly the share price action has taken me by surprise but I still feel the patient investor will be rewarded over the coming years. Some of us picked up stock at 50p-60p after the credit crisis but most investors were in at closer to 100p and have been selling irrationally, to clear their books, in my view.
