Posted at 01/10/2019 12:23 by varies topvestNo-one could blame you for feeling sore. Distasteful as it is to see a manager's wife avail herself of the opportunity to buy shares cheaply in these circumstances, I suppose that sellers would have had to take an even lower price if no buyers came forward. I think that it would have been in the directors' own long-term interest to behave better. Looking at a ten year chart for SGR I see that the share price last went as low as 140p in 2012 and that it has generally stood at well above 200p and indeed at over 400p for several months. 140p is a rotten price for sellers and I offer my sympathy and commiseration. I hope you will be lucky with your re-investment of the proceeds of your sale and recover your losses. |
Posted at 30/9/2019 18:43 by varies Simon Thompson of the Inv. Chron. maintains his good opinion of SGR in spite of the imminent departure from AIM. For the moment the supply at 139p seems to have dried up. |
Posted at 27/9/2019 18:29 by spob will it be possible to "buy" SGR into an ISA after the AIM delistingor just hold existing or sell |
Posted at 27/9/2019 12:10 by varies Having felt very tempted to invest at over 200p,I am naturally thankful that I did not but am unable to resist the temptation at about 140p and am buying a few even though they may prove hard to sell once we have lost our AIM quotation. The PUMA VCTs seem to have been very successful and SGR now has (I believe)about £1,000 million of funds under management. Further the wireless licenses in Germany look valuable. With any investment the small shareholder is always to some extent at the mercy of the directors and I have no reason to suppose that Mr Shore and his colleagues are any worse than many others ! |
Posted at 26/9/2019 09:14 by peter27 And if they decide to stop paying a dividend? I'm out |
Posted at 26/9/2019 08:11 by topvest I'm not very happy with today's announcement. To be honest, there is no point selling at the price now being offered. Management are no doubt buying up some more shares. Possibly better to hold as a private company for the 10p+ dividend per annum and an eventual capital return when they feel like tidying up the share register. |
Posted at 17/12/2012 20:57 by markt ANy interest in forming an action group to work to have the FSA remove the licenses that SGR has ?looks like Shore Capital may be a company and a broker to avoid if one is concerned about risks wrt integrity etc. here is a extract from news release from Sharesoc about one company that Shore Capital is/was broker to. (OCH, Shareholder action group set up to act against the 2 exec. dirs and Shore Capital) "Incidentally Shore Capital seems to come to our attention quite regularly as the Nomad/Broker of companies where shareholders are unhappy (Lees Foods, Lighthouse Group, Solo Oil recently for example" ---- SHore Capital issued the paperwork for the OCH EGM in Dec 2012.... and it appears to be an intentional misrepresentation of the truth. Imo the initial OCH was also an intentional misrepresentation of the truth, SGR made millions from the OCH IPO. (there is a lot more info over the OCH Action Group thread about what has happened at OCH) |
Posted at 30/10/2009 07:26 by dcomd99 Somebody bought 0.5 million yesterday, and with no RNS, perhaps it wasn't SGR. |
Posted at 29/10/2009 07:57 by jimarilo Hi DC, there were 2 announcements yesterday the second came after lunch, it was Shore that boughtI would just like to know why, looks like they want to raise the NAV here Shore Capital Group plc (the "Company") announces that it purchased 3,354,319 of its ordinary shares of 2p each at an average price of 40p per share on Wednesday, 28 October 2009. All of these shares will be cancelled. |
Posted at 29/10/2009 07:46 by dcomd99 I think Shore is trying to make himself the only shareholder. Somebody bought a load (volume 3.6m, normally less than 300k) yesterday, but so far no RNS from SGR. If it wasn't SGR, this could become interesting. |
