bodlan - good point. As Danny says above TER should fall under new management. Also TER has been higher due to once-off costs of dealing with possible bid for company from IRET/PICT.
At 32p discount was c.35% which covered relatively high TER. At current price harder to argue that SREI is very cheap

Hi

I've only just found this site and have been reading all of the posts concerning RECP & IFD now SREI. As a beginner to fixed income investing it's been very interesting to hear how you all view things.
When I went onto another site (Citywire) and looked at SREI it said the TER was 4.83%. If correct, why is this not an issue for you guys?
One of the big issues of the day appears to be high management charges yet I have yet to read about anyone mentioning this. Is it because you are all dealing too frequently for it to be an issue for you as you chase the higher yields or what?

To many times sold a fast risers
only to see it go up more when the reason for rise comes out, however a profit is a profit but I can't find much better things to sit In with a yield of 8, and the fact it has gone up so much makes one think that the dividend is safe, does it not?

take a look at redefine, ive added a few lately, excellent yield if the management can stick to their word and maintain the full dividend, however you may have missed the recent bottom.

Tempted to trim a few as well, but these still yield 8.8%.

What do you see as a suitable replacement? I'm already loaded up with LLPC/D bank prefs.

Unfortunately my wife has been very seriously ill for some time, was admitted to hospital two weeks ago and she died early yesterday morning at home.

I could not believe the service we received from the NHS palliative care team and the Marie Curie nurses in their efforts to get her home to enable her to pass away in familiar surroundings and the comfort of her own home. We will be having a collection for Marie Curie at her funeral. If any of you have benefited from my postings you might like to consider making a donation to Marie Curie. They provide end of life care for anyone, not just cancer patients as I had previously thought, and their support and dedication was unbelievable. Without this service my wife would have had no choice but to die in a room full of (in her case, well meaning) strangers.

For anyone kind enough to contribute, cheques should be made payable to Marie Curie Cancer Care and sent to Peter Jackson Funeral Services, High St, Henstridge, Somerset, BA8 0RB with a note to say in memory of Lisa Izatt. The funds will be used to support the local charity which looked after Lisa. Last year they funded 49 nurses who cared for 429 patients at home and they need to raise £510k this year to continue at that level - it would be great if we could increase it. This funding enabled many people to spend their last days or weeks in the comfort of their own homes in familiar surroundings.

Thank you to all who may contribute and I wish you success in your investing - but it means not a whit if you have not life and health so get your priorities in the right order.

If you are kind enough to contribute please print out and complete the "gift aid" declaration and enclose it with your cheque to increase the value of your donation with no extra cost to you. https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/en-gb/donate/donatenow/

Yes, as stated earlier 40p was the target technically, so would now expect a prolonged period of consolidation in the 37.5p/40p range.

rise rather surprised all of us, a breather required, holding for income and continued re-rating as the excellent team get on doing the right things.

GARY - Agreed, we're going to have to be patient to get these back! That piece in the IC came at the wrong time for us - they should have seen the value far earlier, but then, we wouldn't have got that cheap Lloyds stock if they had been more on the ball.

In the meantime take a look at APT - real value now on offer there as winding-up is a near certainty IMO following yesterday's RNS. I reckon we will see well over 20% Gross Redemption Yield over a 3yr liquidation; could well be 25% accounting for normal revenue income.

got a mention in the investors chronicle today. "manager duncan owen has a clear recovery strategy to pay down the debt, and the portfolio's performance has been robust.investors need to take a three-year view but, trading on a 25 per cent discount, the shares look a bargain." pleased to hear that as ive recently been adding.
