12/1/2017 11:43 | Time to sell some more I think. | wad collector
11/1/2017 20:47 | Do the investors here in RIO also have an interest in AAL ?? and if not why not? RIO moves regularly up and down a few pound, does AAL move the same ?? I have been buying and selling RIO as it moves regularly recently up and down between 3000 and 3300. Will i be able to do the same with AAL ? | arnietwo
11/1/2017 11:45 | I guess that depends on where the share price goes now! I still have a core holding so not worried either way. | wad collector
10/1/2017 19:14 | Brill, well done! | philo124
10/1/2017 18:55 | Phil I couldn't resist £33! 7% in three weeks will do me. | wad collector
10/1/2017 15:34 | Elsewhere, mining shares, including Anglo American, Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Antofagasta, were on the front foot, bolstered by encouraging Chinese data on producer prices. China's producer prices were up 5.5% from the same month a year ago, beating expectations for a 4.5% increase. However, inflation eased back to an annual rate of 2.1% in December from 2.3% the previous month, falling short of estimates of 2.2 | broadwood
10/1/2017 15:10 | can anyone tell me why RIO went down about 200p the last few days then bounced back up 160p today, at this momento in time !! What was it tht triggered the 5% gain ?? | arnietwo
10/1/2017 14:16 | Nope, I don't think you will. | philo124
03/1/2017 16:03 | wad - is China's debt burden any greater than USA ?? Whilst China is state-controlled they can issue bonds & tell banks what to do. Their manufacturing data this morning at 51.9 is better than expected. Guess what you are saying is don't get carried away as stats can lie. | jdb2005
03/1/2017 10:31 | Putting it another way , the infrastructure projects have carried on to keep employment up , but they have created a lot of empty buildings and the loans are not getting paid back . The Chinese govt is breaching the gap but it is not sustainable. The Govt does not want to lose face by scaling back , the banks are not going to keep this up. A colleague has just returned from China for a large industrial company and is amazed that Western business seems blind to this . I suppose the Chinese Govt control of News is a factor. Obviously this is a bit anecdotal , and maybe other global markets will emerge further for RTZ. | wad collector
03/1/2017 09:55 | Thanks wad. | philo124
03/1/2017 09:03 | If China is the main customer , then ask a banker what they make of China's banks balance sheets. The numbers apparently don't add up , there is a bubble. | wad collector
01/1/2017 19:15 | There seems to be some doubt over whether Trump will be able to persuade the Republicans to spend trillions on infrastructure projects in US and drive their country into higher deficits. Few Months ago Republicans were threatening to close Obama's Govt buildings & services because of the state of the economy. China seems to be the main customer for commodities. Building airports, planes, ships, & military equipment. Strength of the dollar has taken RIO back up to 3150 - so buy on dips & short if it reaches 3400 is my strategy. Good Luck in 2017. | jdb2005
30/12/2016 12:21 | I see Arja called this correct again. | bonio10000
30/12/2016 12:09 | Hi Mia - still lurking , no danger of a proper job, its just that the fun seems to have gone out of stocks like Rio these days, so sometimes I go a month without checking in on here hope you and everyone else had a good Christmas, and that 2017 proves prosperous for all of us - even Prof Sanks can have his profitable short trades as long as Rio bonces back in the end - as it does seem to have a habit of doing onwards and upwards | ian davenport
24/12/2016 16:26 | Doesn't seem to be much action on this board anymore. Good to see arja and christh still carrying the flag but where's IanDav, and Max Lenton gone? Possibly got proper jobs like me? Looks like RIO went sun £20 during the year but seems to have recovered to where it was two years ago. I'd better not look at any historic day charts as 30p swings might entice me back in. Anyway - Merry Christmas one and all. mia | miamigo
20/12/2016 10:30 | I could give it up any time I wanted. :-) Like to work some of my holdings ! | wad collector

20/12/2016 08:29 | Bought back at 3040. Volatility seems the theme of the last month. | wad collector
18/12/2016 18:26 | Keep eye on Miners as the continued strength of US dollar translate into higher commodity prices: | jdb2005
09/12/2016 19:43 | just a bit of profit taking today I think but might be a day or so more of it | arja |
