James8 - Thanks. My instinct is to hold for the next set of results and the great div. but I am getting a bit twitchy - I hate to loose a profit.

oniabsta,
Thanks for that. Feel a bit reassured!

Spoke to Ritchard Buckley RCC's operations director about 10 mins ago. He said he wasn't privvy to what is happening about the bid, as far as he is aware there is nothing on the table. Said he would bring my concerns (ie.lack of info etc.)to the board when it convenes next wednesday. He seemed generally upbeat about the company's current trading.

James8,
Like you I have a holding bought at just below 16.
I wish the co would annouce something, but at the moment think that there is practically no downside to holding - as long as the price is below 20 the bid, if successful, gives that much and if it fails the shares are undervalued (heading for 25 when the bid was announced). Only risk I can see is if bid is unsettled by next results, and dividend is massively cut - but don't think this is a very likely scenario. IMHO.

bluetooth,
I'm also twitchy. Always planned to keep for long term but with take-over talk etc -who knows.
I've got quite a few, bt. at an av. of 15.5p and don't like to see my profits disappear.
I emailed RCC. But no reply yet- can't say I'm too surprised!

bluetooth,

I've been wondering exactly the same.
No idea about TW's list.
I thought I'd email RCC and ask whether the talks are progressing and any reason for share price slide.
My gut reaction is that it's on low volume, some people have got impatient and then more follow- but it is worrying.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Looking a bit sick over the last few weeks - relatively heavy selling today. Is it just that the takeover talks appear to have come to nothing or is it more serious? Prior to the announcement of the the talks, the price was heading towards 30p. Is this still on TW's buy list?

Can anyone make an educated guess how long before we can expect to hear whether bid approach is leading to anything.
TIA

I think that the record order book and benefits from the Waterford Stanley joint venture coming thru make the future look v positive

What i think folks is that the CEO knows the growth is at an end. Thats why the divi is so huge to keep the share price up.

Thats why I ran for the door as soon as I saw the results. 2% growth in earnings. Thats virtually standing still net inflation. No thanks.

Nigel Wray also hinted that if CEO was prepared to accept 20p plus divi that there may be a good reason.

Nigel Wray (Professional investor and RCC shareholder) is also unhappy with the measly 20p offer talked about. Hope he can use his influence and shareholder muscle to improve it!

Had an email back from the FSA, they said they are going to look into the matter about the latest RNS. I stated that the deal wasn't in the best interest of the shareholders as the company is financially sound and see no reason to sell out cheap. Also mentioned the Guardians article which stated that they expected the offer to be around 25p and not 20p, did they know something we didn't???

shaggy666, a 68% stake is not realisable at market value. It's a selfish price to accept, perhaps, but not an idiotic one. Perhaps he feels he's done enough for the shareholders in the past to justify looking after his own interests. And I'd agree, though obviously a minority like yourself will have been unlucky with the timing.

Besides, the bid isn't in yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it's above 20p (if it does eventually materialise) since it does need more than just his support to succeed.

Certainly learnt my lesson there then, and anyone who sells for 17% lower than the market value is certainly an idiot.
