Had a review of the results and sold my shares. Good profits in quick time, but v. small increase in earnings not my cup of tea.

The legendary trader Jesse Livermore increased his trades when the trading stock moved to new heights.

I too, have taken profits after the results in the past.
Not this time.
There is only 15% of shares to the public,85% owned by chairman, directors and a few institutions.
I have over the years done the same with Cosalt and now I have to buy at a much higher price.

The very small rise in turnover, feeding through to the rest of the figures, plus the fact that the shares almost always fall back after interims, caused me to take profits on half my holdings today.

I also wondered was the substantial dividend increase due to a sense of confidence in the future ( esp re Waterford Stanley venture), or to compensate for figures which were comparatively lacklustre in relation to recent years.

Besides, something keeps telling me that consumer confidence cant stay robust for ever...

I will be very tempted to buy back if the shares do drop by a couple or three pence though.

Great little business - still over £4M CASH in the balance sheet which is why they can afford to pay out such a high proportion of the earnings by way of increased divis. This business fits extremely well with the present economy; low unemployment; low interest rates; rising house prices and people spending very freely to improve their homes and surroundings. Plus of course the almost fanatical interest in cooking!

I can't see this one coming to grief for the forseeable future; well managed; extremely good margins; importing from euro country to keep costs low with an excellent product sold by top retailers eg John Lewis etc.

I'm in and will top up heavily as soon as it dips - one for the bottom drawer.

This is one of the few companies without any share sales from major holdings ie 5% of company and directors, apart from a sale of 5m shares by J.D.O.Armstrong on 2.2.00, he still owns 68% of company.
I will be very surprised if the stock weakens by more than a couple of pence from here.
The last times the results came out 3.7.01 +2.25p [17.75p]21.1.01 +1.25p[15.5p]
17.7.00 +0.75p[15.75p]24.1.00 + 1p[13.5p]14.7.99 + 1.5p[8.5p]
Thats the full record.
Good luck to all who cook with her.

Price held down first thing by traders getting out, but should see a steady rise once the figures are digested, and commented on, by the media. This is a sound company with a bright future, IMHO.
