DIVIDENDS

The semi-annual dividend arising on the preference shares in June 2023 was paid on the due date. The semi-annual dividend arising in December 2023 was temporarily deferred but on the basis that, if the agreement for the subscription by the DSN group for further shares in REA Kaltim became unconditional, the directors would declare a dividend representing all outstanding arrears of preference dividend. Accordingly, following the DSN share subscription becoming unconditional, the directors declared a dividend in respect of all of such arrears and such dividend (amounting in aggregate to 11.5p per preference share) was duly paid on 15 April 2024.

The directors expect the semi-annual dividends arising on the preference shares in June and December 2024 will be paid in full on the due dates.

While the dividends on the preference shares were more than six months in arrear, the company was not permitted to pay dividends on its ordinary shares but with the payment in full of the outstanding arrears of preference dividend that is no longer the case. Nevertheless, in view of the results for the year, no dividend in respect of the ordinary shares has been paid in respect of 2023 or is proposed.

J2M You have misread what i have written. Todays dividend was money owed on the preference shares which are cumulative, this dividend was a one off and money from last December and previously. The shares are preference shares and usually have a fixed dividend of 9p per share per year. This is paid twice a year on 30.06 and 31.12 or the first trading day after that date. The Ex-dividend date is usually 4 weeks before. So at the very end of May or the beginning of June the shares trade EX-Dividend and a payment is made on 30.06.
You can find all the information on the REA website.
hxxps://rea.co.uk/news/r-e-a-holdings-plc-dividend-payment-in-respect-of-9-per-cent-cumulative-preference-shares/9d8d0968-ce07-4272-8e2e-e71316a313ee/
Above is last years announcement for the half yearly dividend. The website is a must read for any shareholder or anyone thinking of investing. Before you invest check out the MP Evans PLC website. They are in the same business in the same country but their management seem better equipped than the team at REA PLC.
So if you hold 1 preference share going forward you can expect/hope to get 2 dividends per year both of 4.5p.

My holding with ii has the dividend showing in my account. As always seems to be the case the holding with HL does not show the dividend and it will probably show at the end of trading tonight or tomorrow morning. Next Ex-dividend near the end of May and another dividend on the 30th June/1st July? Not sure where now for RE.B? Palm oil 41 days above $1000. Though REA just pay more tax when the price goes up. I hope they are finding a way to pay the High interest debt down and can manage to grow the business or at least continue to reduce debt, to become profitable regardless of the palm oil price.
Due to the poor management at REA over the last many years. The best case scenario is a full takeover, where the preference shares are repaid at 100p though no idea what price the Ordinaries would attract? DSN is the most likely to make a takeover though MP Evans is still an outside possibility.
Sorry to ramble. Great to see the Dividend.

Dividend

R.E.A. Holdings plc ("REA" or the "company")

Dividend in respect of 9 per cent cumulative preference shares (the "preference shares")

It was announced on 29 February 2024 that, upon full settlement of the immediate amounts due on closing of the subscription agreement with PT Dharma Nusantara Satya ("DSN") (as detailed in the company’s circular to shareholders dated 25 January 2024), the directors intended to declare a dividend in respect of all of the outstanding arrears of dividends on the preference shares for payment on a date to be determined in accordance with the London Stock Exchange's dividend procedure timetable.

In line with that intention and further to the announcement today that closing of the DSN share subscription has taken place and all immediate financial settlements due on closing have been received, the directors have today declared that a dividend in respect of all of the outstanding arrears of dividends on the preference shares (amounting in aggregate to 11.5p per preference share) will be paid on 15 April 2024 to holders of preference shares registered at the close of business on 2 April 2024.

Bisiboy you are brave. I have 100,000 which produces 33% of my pension income. I help manage family finances and as a family we hold 200,000 in total. You can imagine the concern, when they did not pay the dividend in December. It has lead to some belt tightening until April 15th.
The 16p between now and the end of June will be great, to go into the family finances and will mean a happier year ahead.
If for any reason these move above 100p after the dividend payments. I will be a seller, I really should not have a single share producing so much of my income.
I made that mistake with RAVP which would have been producing 30% of my pension income but is now producing nothing. When RAVP were still paying REA were only 25% of my pension income.
Once the 16p is in the bag, you might want to spread your risk.
There are other places where you can get a potential 10% yield with the chance of growing dividends and a growing share price. NESF and HFEL look bombed out. NESF trading at a 30% discount to NAV?
A brave buy and as I am a holder I hope it all works out as you plan.

Snippet from announcement just released:-

Preference dividends

The dividend falling due on the 9 per cent cumulative preference shares of
£1 each in the capital of the company (the "preference shares") on 31
December 2023 was not paid, bringing the aggregate arrears of dividend on
