Increased holdings by Barclays and SVG Capital, directors buying, IC - "Good value", property development and a host of top flight major shareholders!

thanks azalea; I had already had a scan at the posts, but there's not much to go off. I guess I'll have to do a bit more digging myself (and stop being so lazy!). One thing is that it has moved a great deal, in a very short timescale. The number of trades seems very low.

UP 7%. Perhaps SC has made an impact albeit on only 60k of buys. However, albeit sensitive to purchases, I suspect its more than that and the good forecast for FY results. We shall have to wait and see!

In Sept the IC gave a 'Good value rating' @ 214p, citing promising prospect for the film and TV businesses. It highlighted that Pinewood had 2m sqft of extra space with planning consent, which could be developed for studios/media offices/workshops for third parties. It quoted analysts as being excited about PWS entering into a partnership with property experts - Morley Fund Management to develop Shepperton studios. Since Oct 06. 3 directors bought a combined £250k worth of shares at aound the current price. both SVG Capital (13.19%)_ and Barclays (4.88%)have recently increased their major holdings. In adding to all the above the list of star studded major investors and in particular Landsdowne (9.6%)Artemis Inv Man (9.38%) and JP Jorgan Chase (9.29%), clinched my own decision to buy. Backed by the above, it is my belief that there is a lot more to go for here and give the prime real estate PWS is sitting on, it is not immune from corporate action.

These look interesting so we bought a few earlier in the week for our investment club. My understanding is that they have 50% of a JV with Norwich Union which owns 2oo acres of land in the West London area. Can't be bad with an improving earnings profile (and possibly dividend) coming up behind it.

It gets even better. SVG Capital through its sibling SVG Investment Management has today declared an interest of 13.19% (11.75%). Whose is next I wonder?

Nah, there is more to this than meets the eye(up 10p (4.7%) on modest buying) and after reviewing one of the main reasons why I bought in - some astute major(3%+)shareholders; I am going to stick my neck out and suggest a bid might be in the offing. Amonst the 12 MH are SVG Capital 11.75%(largest holding), Lansdowne Partners 9.6% and Artemis 9.38%. I believe the first two in particular specialise in undervalued companies with a flavour of bid potential about them. DYOR

Thank you for that. I have only just this minute seen an RNS stating that Barclays Bank has recently upped its stake from 3.29% to 4.88%.nice one.

Was tipped in Shares Mag a few weeks ago mid Nov - bit different forecast to those above 8.1p for 2006 but 14.7p for 2007

Rather interesting upward movements in the share price over the past 10 days mostly on small volumes. Anyone any ideas why?

I'm in for 1200 shares this a.m.. I like the pedigree of major shareholders, directors buying and Charles Stanley FY forecast for 2006 - adjusted ptx profits of £5.5m (2005 £1.4m)Eps 8.1p ( 2.1p) and 2007 ptx £8m Eps 12p.

IC("good value": Market share of filmed TV has grown appreciably. Company has benefited from a pick up in demand in the UK thanks to clarification of the tax breaks available to film makers. Chmn -Pinewood has almost 2m sqft of extra space with planning consent. Analysts are excited about the partnership deal with Morley Fund Management to develop Shepperton Studios.

I can't see how Pinewood is making much money at the moment. Out of the 18 stages available to rent, 12 are empty and of those only 5 are taken by feature film productions.
Obviously they will still be getting rent from 'resident companies', but I would have thought that the real money is made from renting out the stages.
Any thoughts, anyone?

Ah well, it's a dead cert then!

These guys have planning consents to spend money on stuff that, hopefully, people will pay money to use!

At least the analyst prsentation didn't have folks running for the exit doors!

At the same time, neither did it have people scrambling to get in!

One to watch rather than play with for the moment, je pense!
