24/6/2009 20:41 | I thought you were referring to the famous Benchmark investment in Ebay! Ousted Payzone director takes role of CEO at fuel group Topaz The decision by Mr Williamson to join Topaz could rule out any notions either he or Mr Nagle may have harboured about wrestling control of Payzone from majority owners Balderton Capital. The two former executives own a combined 12pc stake in Payzone, while Balderton Capital controls 54pc. The struggling electronic-payments company has just about been treading water after posting a 206m pre-tax loss in its last financial year. Last week it reported a net loss for the six months to the end of March of nearly 92m on revenue of just over 585m. That compared to a net loss of over 166m in the same period last year. Payzone was also granted a waiver from its banks last week on a covenant breach. In conjunction with its main banker, Royal Bank of Scotland, Payzone has been attempting to refinance a nearly 292m debt pile. | lbo
24/6/2009 13:02 | Actually type payzone into the search facility on ebay - you can buy terminals that thieving shopkeepers are selling. I wonder if Payzone know this? | danny678
24/6/2009 00:21 | Saldy more losses lately! Ebay was trading at $16.50 today back to where it was in 1999. It was $30-40 a year ago and $50-60 in 2004/05 Embattled e-payments group Payzone's attempt to refinance its 276m debt pile will not to be completed by the time it reports interim figures next month Shares in the company debuted at 76 pence but this morning were trading at 1.83 pence giving the company a market value of £8.06 million. | lbo

Barry Maloney, a senior partner at Setanta shareholder Balderton Capital, has stepped down from the board of the Irish pay-TV company to avoid a potential conflict of interest with US businessman Len Blavatnik's £20m rescue plan. Sports broadcaster Setanta faces administration | lbo

18/6/2009 09:42 | Note to Chairman regatrding following comment in 1/2 yearly results - 'We are grateful to our shareholders for supporting the Company during a difficult period'. Shareholders have not supported the company, they have merely made the logical decision not to dump shares at 1.5p that were bought for considerably more prior to this business been ruined - you may recall a share price of 150p at one point when Cardpoint was at its peak. Also, if you are as grateful as you claim to be, why don't we receive any communications from the Board regarding the ongoing development of the business? Lots of words Mr Smyth, but no sincerity, truth or substance to support them. IMHO of course... | fatcol
11/6/2009 22:44 | As long as the share price gets back to £ 1 I don't care. | danny678
11/6/2009 21:05 | BK A previous comment "I doubt that very much....., reason was ...The sales force also lost out on commisson getting paid a basic wasnt enough! NO BONUS means no faith - hence they downed tools and left the Slumptanic to sink!!" A little bird told me that a former sales person left using this as an excuse - if 2+2 = 5 then i have got it wrong but it all fits too nicely especially given the references to the Sales Director, who you clearly butted heads with, when no one else has brought afformentioned chap into a thread. Now - back to consolidation - info has it that some other IAD's may welcome bids. A round of consolidation on the cards? | potter0505
11/6/2009 20:42 | Potter0505 - There was no personal tone involved, until you stated about English classes for people from Blackpool. You seem to be connecting me with Blackpool or the North West for some reason and again been personal. I think you seem to have me crossed with someone else. Never mind. Good luck to you all, | burgerking2008
11/6/2009 18:50 | Chaps - i agree and apologise for being distracted but i couldn't help but engage in a little banter with our friend from the North West. It wasn't the topic i was concerned with straying off FatCol but the personal tone involved, there's a line to be drawn no matter the personal feelings people may. There's a difference between criticism of performance and character assasination. Happy to engage in a conversation about where the company and/or industry is moving. What are the thoughts on consolidation? | potter0505
11/6/2009 18:33 | potter0505 - look up the word hypocrite. It would appear that you are happy to berate others for straying off topic, whilst doing exactly that yourself. To quote the great potter0505 'Leave trading forums to discuss real commercial issues, unbiased performance critique, potential losses/gains etc etc.' Enough said I think. | fatcol
11/6/2009 14:58 | Grow up and stick to the point guys | narcosis78
11/6/2009 13:24 | Look up the word rhetorical, a rhetorical question mark was invented in the 17th century but its use was largely abandoned by the end of the 19th century - it was a question mark backwards which is not available on a standard QWERTY keyboard . A rhetorical question does not grammatically require the use of a question mark, although it is commonly used with one, as the rhetorical question is not meant to be answered. However, the use of an apostrophe after the n in don't is required and the classes in Blackpool may help you with this. | potter0505
10/6/2009 21:54 | Your English Potter505 is not the best in your rant above either!! Do you know when to use question marks? - Seems to me that you dont. | burgerking2008
10/6/2009 20:25 | Ironic that my point should be so impressively demonstrated in the very next post. Why don't you try this and then try again at some point www.lessons-private. | potter0505 |
