Water set to flow to Goondicum Mine site
THE first stage of the bore drilling
for the Monto Minerals pipeline
was recently completed, which
will eventually see water piped to
the Goondicum Mine site.
The bore, which has tapped into
the Mulgildie sub-artesian aquifer,
has been drilled to a depth of 640
metres to reach water in precipice
sandstone.
The whole bore and casing drilling
process is expected to be completed
in the next week or two.
SunWater spokesman Glenn
Pfluger said significant headway
had been made with the pipe laying
element of the project with about
18km already laid.
"The pipe laying crews from Diona
have done a tremendous job in
some trying conditions but they
have pulled out all stops to ensure
the pipeline is delivered on schedule,"
Mr Pfluger.
"The Evans and Yarroll road sections
are almost complete and we
have now commenced sited preparations
on private landholder properties
where further pipe laying
work is planned."
He said things were moving forward
on the landholder negotiations.
Mr Pfluger said they had also begun
clearing and ground preparation
for the main pump station.
The pipeline is expected to be
completed in mid June.
Construction continues at the
main mine site at Goondicum with
the steel framework for the main
processing plant starting to be
built.
Simon Gee, from RJ Rocbbins.
the engineering company contracted
to build the plant said the timeline
for it to be fully commissioned
in July was on target.
There are 15-20 workers working
on the construction of the plant.
Monto company Doug Evans
Earthmoving has eight employees
working on the first stage which is
expected to be completed at the end
of May.

TITANO-MAGNETITE

Titano-magnetite, a high margin product, is being trialled for use as a dense media in the coal washing process. The Goondicum Project is well located to benefit from Queensland's booming coal industry.

APATITE

Apatite is a source of phosphate, used in the production of phosphatic fertilisers and animal stockfeed. Monto apatite is particularly attractive to fertiliser producers as it is unusually rich in phosphate. It is also well suited for direct use as a slow release organic fertiliser.

ILMENITE

A major industrial mineral used for the manufacture of titanium dioxide (TiO2), a non-toxic white pigment used in just about everything which is white, such as paint, rubber, plastics, textiles, ink, cosmetics, leather, ceramics, paper, food and confectionery. Monto ilmenite is considered to be a reactive feedstock, bringing a process cost benefit, due to its relatively high iron ratio. TiO2 producers in Asia and Europe are interested in the product.

FELDSPAR

Used in the manufacture of glass, sanitary ware, ceramic tiles and cosmetics. Monto feldspar's high alumina content is of strong interest to container (bottles) and sheet glass makers in Australia, Asia and Europe. The zero free silica and uniform particle size of Monto's feldspar provides significant health and safety benefits. Monto feldspar is also suitable for use as an industrial abrasive.

GROUND FELDSPAR

Finely ground feldspar is a high value, high margin product and is used in paint manufacture and powder coating.

Thanks to BB & Skiboy on the pointers for the stats counter.

Don't think it'll be too buisy here though I get
EPS of 0.4p for initial production based letters of intent from customers to takeup 45%.

Thats assuming £12.50 profit per tonne.

It should get more interesting if/when they secure more contracts and ramp up production to double or tripple the initial rate.

Company Website:

Invesor presentation:

Monto Minerals Limited is an industrial minerals mining, processing and marketing company dual-listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and London's Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

The company holds mining and exploration titles at Goondicum, located in Central Queensland, about 30 kilometres east of Monto and 100 kilometres south of the major export port of Gladstone.

Construction of the A$70 million Goondicum Project, comprising the mine, processing plants and associated infrastructure, is well advanced, with commissioning of commercial production schedules in June 2007.

Initially, three industrial minerals will be produced from the deposit - apatite, feldspar and ilmenite. Another mineral, titanomagnetite, is currently under advanced technical and commercial product evaluation.

In 2004 a A$6 million pilot plant produced bulk quantities of the three mineral products for industrial scale trials by potential long term customers in Australia and overseas. These customer trials, all of which were successful, were a prerequisite to longer term commercial contract discussions. Subsequent pilot plant operations in 2006 produced a bulk titanomagnetite sample.

The pilot plant operation also gave an improved and practical understanding of the geology, mineralogy and metallurgy of the deposit. This knowledge was incorporated into the commercial plant design and the final feasibility study was completed in 2005.

Initial production will be at the rate of 150,000 tonnes per year, with the potential to double or triple this tonnage as markets are developed.

A strong marketing programme has already resulted in sales of 45% of the first year's production, with significant agreements extending for up to five years.

Now I'm pretty sure I've got this wrong but hopefully with some sensible discussion we might be able to arrive at a sensible value for the resource.

Indicative Resource figures from the company website:

Ilmenite: 4,236,000 tonnes
Feldspar: 9,958,000 tonnes
Apatite: 1,538,000 tonnes
Titanomagnetite: 2,243,000 tonnes

If we assume (I think conservatively) that obtainable contract prices for Ilmenite, Apatite and Titanomagnetite are £25 per tonne and £50 per tonne for feldspar.
Then we have a potential resource value of £698,325,000 before extraction costs.

Ah I've been told that it's green because I created the thread it should appear blue to anyone else.

Anyhow I've emailed the company to see if what if anything I can get by way of aspirational contract prices for the minerals per tonne.

Well I'm no expert Muj but I suspect the answer to the question is No
But then that's why I started the thread; to find out.

Look like I'll just have to start a new thread.

Any suggestions for a more sensible header?
