See today's announcement. Happened to see this by chance and thought worth investigating a bit further.

Strikingly absent from the presentation is any estimate of costs, cashflow, IRR or profit projection. Can anyone help me out, please?

Monto Minerals Update of Goondicum Industrial Minerals Project

Update of Goondicum Industrial Minerals Project
7 September 2007LSE ANNOUNCEMENT
MONTO MINERALS LIMITED (The "Company") UPDATE ON THE GOONDICUM INDUSTRIAL MINERALS PROJECT* Construction of Goondicum plant completed within Budget
* Commissioning extended due to leaks in the water pipe line
and plant adjustments
* Production expected to commence during September
* Commercial titanomagnetite test successfully completedMonto Minerals Limited ("Monto") is developing the Goondicum
multi-product industrial minerals project in central Queensland to
produce ilmenite (for paint, paper and plastic pigment), glass
feldspar (for glass manufacture), ground feldspar (for paint and
powder coating), apatite (for organic fertiliser) and titanomagnetite
(for coal washing) for Australian and international markets.
Construction of the processing plant at Goondicum was completed in
August within budget and with no Lost Time Injuries to employees or
contractors. The simple, shallow open pit mine has been operational
for several months, providing ore to a stockpile for commissioning
and initial production.
All operating equipment has been successfully tested. The processing
plant is now being subjected to commissioning trials, with ore
gradually fed in as slurry. Many minor adjustments and modifications
have been required, as is usual in commissioning procedures, although
the high number of cyclones and surge bins within the Goondicum plant
circuit has impacted upon the modification process.
The water pipeline, developed and operated by the Queensland
Government-owned corporation, SunWater, is now supplying the plant
following the repair of leaks. The interruption to water supply has
not had a serious impact on the plant commissioning due to the
careful management of on-site water storage capacity.
As a result of these commissioning and water supply factors,
production is expected to commence later this month and domestic
sales of apatite are expected to commence in October, an overall
delay of 2-3 weeks on previous expectations. Export sales of
ilmenite will follow later in the year once sufficient product has
been produced for shipment. The company is currently arranging the
initial shipment schedule with customers.
Construction is on schedule at Dakiel, 25km by road from Goondicum,
where a washing plant to upgrade the feldspar is being built. The
plant is due to be completed in early October, and commissioning
should be concluded during October subject to sufficient stocks of
feldspar being available from Goondicum.
Following successful testing of fine ground titanomagnetite in a
commercial coal washing plant, a grinding plant is being designed for
installation at Goondicum. The grinding plant forms part of the
original Project Capital Budget and will be funded by existing cash
reserves. Scheduled to be in production in the first quarter of
calendar 2008, the grinding plant will supply trial tonnages to
commercial coal washing plants ahead of supply contracts.
For further information on Monto Minerals please visit the Company's
website at The company has recently
produced a promotional video showing progress of the Goondicum
Project which can be viewed under the heading "Presentations" on the
website.

Latest photos....

Looks promising....not long now to the start of commercial production.

If not posted previously....this presentation back in Nov 2006....gives a good feel for what the company is trying to achieve....while also mentioning possible prices that might be achieved for the products....DYOR.

I like this bit:

There is intense marketing activity with respect to each of the
products. With regard to ilmenite, initial shipping schedules are
being arranged and a Memorandum of Understanding, for a 5 year
contract, has been signed with a new customer. Other recent
developments include confirmation of the contracted feldspar and
apatite deliveries. The latest trial of titanomagnetite as a heavy
medium in coal washing was encouraging. A further commercial trial
at a mine is being proposed within the next two months in order to
confirm the viability of the Monto product.

I might be looking to get back in these if TOM, RIFT & CEY behave as I'd like them to...
