27/7/2010 13:19 | Oh the last year spike and fall was simply a pump and dump team stealing cash from honest investors. MST is ripe for it again. | superg1
27/7/2010 13:18 | I've been wondering what happened to the NHS competition trials with the units in a London hospital that should have finished last October. The trouble is now with all the cuts I can't see the NHS doing big orders. It's a great product but it's difficult to understand why a machime pumping out frsh air vis capsules costs £500. That is the stumbling block for me. It looks like they have gone for business money when now they need to reduce the cost and get it out their to the general public. They completely missed the swine flu opportunity through lack of advertising it seems. Common sense says they should have made a killing their, bad management it seems and the flow of info is awful. Someone like Reckitt could make a killing with this technology, MST seem like a cold calling bunch of numpties with a fantastic device. | superg1
20/7/2010 10:15 | They get recurring income through the sales of replacement cartridges for the installed units. I think that these need replacing monthly at £30 a pop. Check out the inov8 website for full details, Cerrito. Agree that sales need to gain traction and increase substantially before an operating profit is achieved. I continue to hold in hope. | callumross
20/7/2010 09:15 | never heard of this company till half an hour ago when I read its RNS and been looking to see if I should buy some, given that its sells a key product and also now post placing it has a comfortable cash cushion. Passed as I could not understand the economics; the key is to what extent they get replacement business ie do they get servicing income from the units installed or do they have parts that need renewing. Anyone have a view??could always phone up company Surprised that given the apparent increase in sales volumes, revenue will remain at £0.3mpa and while the gross profit is healthy they really need to expand to cover the £2m+ of admin costs pa. Note that H2 sales were 885 compared to H1 of 679 but they will need to keep this increase going for a long time to reach break even. | cerrito

20/1/2010 08:01 | better H2 2009 than H1 (mst) Orders received in the six months ended 31 December 2009 for the Company's AD air disinfection device totalled 679. These included larger orders from distributors in Spain, the Middle East and Norway together with others which were predominantly relatively low volume sales to potential new distributors as the Company seeks to establish sales channels in new markets, both in the UK and internationally. The Company is presently working with or in discussions with 25 distributors in different market sectors and territories around the world. In addition, there are now over 450 AD in use at UK hospitals, successfully and demonstrably playing a key role in the ongoing fight against viral and bacterial pathogens | andrbea
14/1/2010 16:27 | andrbea - I couldn't see any reason for the big drop earlier this week either, but I used it as an opportunity to top up at 5.1p. We need news to get this really moving, but I'm happy to hold and sit quietly at the back until we're at least in double figures. Good luck with yours . . | lombiff

11/12/2009 14:59 | so when do we get a clamour of many hospitals and trusts wanting to order AD units? and mts getting good sales in its annual turnover or when do we leave the 'on trial' phase at a handful of hospitals, to 'it works' and let's all have one? nia dyor | andrbea
11/12/2009 14:49 | Royal Shrewsbury Hospital's Renal Unit has reported excellent results in infection prevention and the unit's manager Sister Nonny Stockdale believes that a novel air disinfection device has contributed to this success. Over the last three years, the unit has experienced a three-fold reduction in bacteraemia episodes, despite a significant rise in the number of patient visits during this period. Sister Stockdale oversaw the study at the Renal Unit and is delighted with the steady decrease in the number of patients experiencing infections during line insertion for haemodialysis. The Air Disinfection unit from Inov8 Science was introduced towards the end of the three year period, however the hospital has conducted microbiological analysis of air within the Renal Unit and results have demonstrated a significant reduction in airborne bioburden since the device was installed in a clinical procedure room in May 2009. The AD emits a constant low level stream of hydroxyl radicals that attack airborne bacteria and viruses. To evaluate the effectiveness of the AD unit, air quality samples have been taken on a regular basis. Microbiological assessment has measured the number of Colony Forming Units (CFUs) both before and after the AD's installation. Typically, results have included Micrococcus, Penicillium and Diphtheroids. Microbiological air quality assessments were conducted across a range of different conditions to fully evaluate the effects of the AD. These conditions included air sampling when the room was empty; when a patient was present; and with up to six staff in the room. Summarising the results of the air quality investigations, Sister Stockdale said: "We have never experienced significant problems with excessive infection rates in the Renal Unit but I wanted to explore the merits of this new disinfection technology to see if we could improve the situation further. "The decrease in bioburden, once the AD Unit had been installed, was extremely noticeable and almost instantaneous, even when the room had many people in it and also post-operation, when there had been a great deal of air disturbance. "The most impressive readings resulting from the AD Unit included CFU counts of 23 when the room was empty and a count of just 56 with six staff and a patient. This compares with counts without the AD Unit of 174 with a patient in the room, 131 in an empty room and 72 in a newly cleaned room. "The results without the AD Unit are all significantly above the recommended rate of 35 CFU for clinical work, which proves how effective it has been in helping to improve air quality. I am therefore confident that the AD is making a significant contribution to the success of our infection prevention strategy." It is important to emphasise that the Renal Unit was already achieving success in infection prevention prior to the installation of the AD. This was a direct response to initiatives such as increased vigilance regarding hand hygiene and improved contingency plans to help counter any potential infection outbreaks. "We are delighted that the AD has been a contributory factor in the effectiveness of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Renal Unit's infection prevention strategy, which corroborates work in other hospitals with similar experiences," says Inov8 Science's Chief Technology Officer, Dr Ian Widger. "The AD Unit can also be used in a variety of other applications to help fight the spread of infections. These include offices, schools, leisure and the hospitality industry." Summarising her views on Inov8 Science's technology, Sister Stockdale said: "I think the AD Unit could benefit other hospitals by helping to prevent the spread of infection and by improving air quality for patients, staff and visitors." | callumross

The press reports have been positive so far, and if we do have a "pig" of a winter we should get more and more coverage. It would be nice to get an RNS about a big order for an NHS trust . . dream on! | lombiff
30/9/2009 14:30 | Amazed the market hasn't picked up on this press release yesterday from Hereford NHS Trust: PRESS RELEASE 28 September 2009 Excellent results at Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust Hereford Hospitals is the only Acute Trust in the West Midlands without any MRSA bacteraemia during this financial year. The infection prevention and control programme at Hereford Hospital NHS Trust is progressing very well this year. There have been no MRSA bloodstream infections so far since April 2009 and Clostridium difficile numbers have more than halved compared with this time last year. Dr Budd, Medical Director and Director of Infection Prevention and Control said "We are very pleased with these figures and think they reflect the impact of the introduction of MRSA screening of all hospital inpatients, reviewing the antibiotic prescribing policy, continued vigilance of hand hygiene, extra auditing of infection prevention practices on all our wards, and by installing Inov8 air disinfection units on nine wards." | callumross
