15/8/2006 19:41 | otd - need to confirm - some strange structure a Tajik company obtained the license, which is owned by a Kazak company, which is owned by a TSX listed Canadian company. Will try to confirm the name of the Canadian company tomorrow. | shorttrader
15/8/2006 19:32 | shorttrader, which canadian company? | otd
15/8/2006 19:19 | Yes GS, we shouldn't have ignored the deteriorating political background. Anyway chin up, life has to go on, and we just have to get over it, somehow. All the best. Nobull. | nobull
15/8/2006 19:16 | "A very painful lesson for me" That's something of value. I have never held but am exposed through OXS. | eriktherock
15/8/2006 19:12 | All sounds to me like we get nothing back. The Turkish thing is no compensation at all: it's light years away from producing any cash flow, and will be a cash guzzler if it is ever going to be good enough to get to the BFS stage. We've really been screwed, and it was all there in the prospectus: no guarantee of a mining licence, so no come-back on the company. I think this puts a question mark over AGF Sulphides. Kosmanichi is a cash guzzler so they were happy to give that to OXS, and besides even that was before Andijan. What power these people have to remove wealth by simple decrees. The market was right all along to ignore the rising NPV. A very painful lesson for me. I hope nobody else suffers it. Investors Chronicle did once warn about not paying attention to companies that quote the value of metal in the ground at current maarket prices. | nobull
15/8/2006 19:11 | I agree ad. We should have been informed; very unpalatable behaviour | giant steps

15/8/2006 19:06 | Yes nobull, no fun. Welcome to Jerooy MK II, legal battle will commence In the meantime, book the fat lady to sing Mona Khandiza Is it cos your Br...sh they blame you ? (unfair, but probably true) Time to review all investments in the 'stans' | giant steps
15/8/2006 19:03 | Sorry to hear the news. I'm just grateful that I trusted my gut instincts and not the MKD management. From their comments it is quite clear they've been worried about the license for sometime. But because they didn't have any hard facts they never passed their concerns down to Joe Public. I bet it was a different story behind closed doors with the institutions. No wonder they all sold out to Oxus (along with the Directors!). The board may have been correct (legally speaking) in not issuing any warnings, but personally I find their conduct unpalatable. I accept that the behaviour of the Usbek government is the prime cause, but the Directors could have and should have been more open with investors. | ad1967mc
15/8/2006 18:32 | Notification seems pretty clear to me. | eriktherock
15/8/2006 18:29 | Marakand Minerals Limited 5.31pm 15 August 2006 Marakand Minerals Limited Marakand Minerals Limited ('the Company') has received notification of the Uzbek government's decision to supercede the previous decrees pertaining to Khandiza and their intention to transfer the resource to AGMK (Almalyk), the state owned base metal miner/smelter. The Company and representatives of the British government have in the past year received numerous assurances from senior government officials of its ongoing involvement in the development on Khandiza. We are seeking clarification of the precise intention of the government and will be looking to make a public statement shortly. 15/8/2006 18:17 | We who held on probably need a drink in the pub to get over this. The losses are horrendous for me. Does anyone know if Amalyk will have to buy the exclusive right to negotiate the terms of the JV off us? Revocation doesn't sound good. It makes it sound like a punishment? It is presumably a legal device to protect money spent on the feasiblilty study? Do we get that money back, I wonder? | nobull
15/8/2006 18:06 | Lets not forget the Turkish Licenses....... Marakand is currently establishing a technical office in Antakya and has commenced satellite image interpretation of the area. A program of surveying, geological mapping and sampling is underway as a precursor to surface drilling. Licenses:- Akjilga Hatay Exploration License(which seems a richer resource than Amantaytau) Karakalise Exploration License | cezary
