I don't know of another exploration company that has better support from its liquid assets.

They own 6.3% of Western Goldfields, currently worth £8.6m. (Edit is very useful)

Perhaps someone has twigged that Western Goldfields has continued going up, now C$2.60. Only the way to entirely covering LTR market cap.

Some activity today. Has someone tipped LTR?
Coincidentally, I was considering selling some today but noticed the price moving. I'm going to wait and see what's behind it.

With FP being badly hit by having to hand back the optioned land holding (Its a clear sign to any partner FP is of modest size) what is left?

All these projects bar El Teno came from a Phelps JV years ago, where are the new prospects?

I wonder if they are getting ready to "Kitchen sink" these assets and start a fresh? Gold?

El Teno is the most interesting asset but they need to drill it quick as their rights fall away this year as I understand. The underlying owner is the geological director who is a very sharp chap.

One way or another we need action as LTR seems parked up in the middle of a boom.

I have rechecked the Jan 25 RNS and see that as you said they have 4.8m -or at least had at that time-of Western and not 7.5m shares.
At last night's closing price of US2.4 that gives us about £5.6m

We can take comfort from the fact that Western's share price is US2.41 following the annoucenment a few days ago that Mesquite is coming on stream ahead of schedule

whatever happened to the australian bloke - john mc something - who was running their ops on the ground in chile? i met him over there seven years ago, and he bought me a few drinks as he regaled me with enthusiastic tales of latin american copper's stellar future....

Hi Ofex punter, Yes I bought both from first offer and I always thought FRA was the Dog but unfortunately it has been LTR. FRA are an example to all of what can be done and the best thing they ever did was list on the TSXv. 11.65p to nearly 2 pounds in very short shrift, I have sold on the way up but even my very reduced holding is a substantial sum.
I will probably end up keeping LTR , they are undervalued and you can bet if I sell they will start moving up. Lets hope they start creating some value soon.
Take care and happy investing !

El Teno is in a nature reserve, will require a major with political clout. You must of made millions on Franconia to compensate, 'H'.

Having bought into this share years ago when it first floated on Ofex as part of the initial Public Offering I am begining to get frustrated with the slow progress. Having supported the company for years my shareholding has done diddly squat. I really thought Konig was going to make a big impact - he has had enough time. But alas continued frustration. Why have they done nothing with El Teno , I always thought this was the big prospect and the others were peripheral. It maybe because they they are leaving the best till last but with copper prices where they are they should be exploiting their best prospect. Unless something happens soon I really am tempted to dump my shares ( and I have a fair few as I have accumulated on dips.)
Signed
One frustrated longtermer.

Thanks for that Paul. I bought in at 3.29p and hopefully in 12 months or so will have something to celebrate. I can't see it falling much lower with the value that it has.

The 5m was me crossing from one account to another.

Have been in contact with LTR and they seem very confident re both projects.

The valuation re FG is a bit meaningless since LTR hope that they can significantly exceed the 60 m tonnes needed to be merely commercial.

Hence still plenty of blue sky potential.

Also seem as enthusiastic re SD as ever.

The directors have good reputation so I am prepared to believe them and hence LTR a good punt with approx half the cap covered by stake in West Goldfields - LTR own 4.8m shares, not 7.5m.

Add in the cash, say £2m and Tanami at £0.5m and the possibly company making copper prospects in for peanuts.

One to lock away for 12 months.

Cheers

Paul

Minvest - very dramatic I'm sure.

The situation in the ground at Dominga is not dependent on your opinion of the way that Filipinas resources are delineated.

So why do you suggest that the situation will be the same in a different area? Do you have some sort of remote viewing ability?

Oh Dear, seem to have predicted this one many moons ago, shame no one took notice, and just followed the spinners, from my understanding this was evident to the Company when they started trying to ramp up the iron ore value of a copper gold project some time ago.

If all wait patiently Santo Domingo will follow suit.

Yes, I got out before 8.20am.
I am hopeful for the future, hence I retained an interest.
I used to think LTR had very little downside, with plenty of upside potential, however the risk is now apparent. I note that there are buyers at 3.75 towards the end of the day. I was hoping to get back in cheaper.
Are you tempted to top up?

I hope that you got out sufficiently early before the 5m sale went through
Thanks for your logic
I hope this avoids one of the things that did for Monterico..a large wellestablished mining consultancy with a small company as a client eager to protect their reputation gold plates the report..I take comfort that they were upbeat about the probability of the reserves

Cerrito, I sold 60% of my holding in three transactions early this morning because I was surprised to see the share price marked up on seemingly 'bad' news and thought I'd take advantage. I guessed it would fall later. I deem it to be bad news because:
a) The share is likely to tread water for a while
b) There is so little interest in LTR and this news is hardly likely to create interest
c) Current information is: "too small to be economically viable"
I expect to buy back in later in the year - if I miss the boat then I miss the boat.

Maybe it's someone represented in this list (collectively they own 70%)

Aktiva Holdings BV 40,000,000 14.84%
Investec Bank (UK) Limited 40,000,000 14.84%
Resourceworks plc 40,000,000 14.84%
HSBC Global Custody Nominee(UK) 17,833,500 6.62%
Roy Nominees Limited 13,500,000 5.01%
Fiske Nominees Limited 10,679,705 3.96%
R B Rowan 10,431,470 3.87%
Vidacos Nominees Limited 9,570,800 3.55%
Morstan Nominees Limited 9,450,000 3.51%

Martyn Konig owns 400,000 shares. Just under 15k's worth. He needs to do better.

Now that details of the 5m sale at 3p-ie 1.8%-of the company is up there can understand why the price has weakened.
Had confirmation from the company that the option fee that they will not now pay is included in the commitments shewn in note 20 of the accounts and that the other major financial commitment as I understood it represents an option fee they will not now pay.
So we are back in the same position:
Marcap at 3.5p is £9.45
The holding at Tanami at 13.5Ausc is £500k odd.
That of 7.5m shares in Western Goldfields at US$1.96 is £7.4
Ie total marketable investments are $7.9m or 2.95p per share
Leaving roughly £1.5m for cash and Chilean operations which include El Teno and Santa Dominga.
The NPV prepared by an internationally reputed form of consultants with I suppose a rather generous 10% discount rate is £45m so to put it mildly one can kitchen sink a lot including the fact that there may not be enough minerals as the market gives a minimal valuation for Filipina Grande.
The number of small sales would suggest that there has been a lot of retail selling.
Would be interesting to get perspective of those who sold today.

I make there to be about 280m shares on issue.
At 3.25p a share this gives a cap of about GBP9m.
Net assets were 6.7m at the last finals: 2p and these will be at a discount to assets.
