28/6/2008 16:02 | btw john lewis 7 day delivery is standard, its all down to good buyers. | csmwssk1
28/6/2008 07:14 | CSM.. I don't think there was any need to get personal at all but what you are saying does not always sit right with what is happening with the big retailers (who you don't deal with according to your statement above) which has been the case for several years!! I also don't think it is even worth talking about a 7 day delivery time as this is not normal at all as a number of retailers (space permitting) have various promotions on throughout the year with immediate delivery etc, especially in the four weeks leading up to Xmas!! I am not questioning what you say you are getting in terms of lead times but in the major retail stores that is not the case, probably for various reasons I know but there it is. Either way I am talking from experience not just as an ex retail field manager and a customer of major sofa retailers but also from having an out of town store manager of a leading furniture chain sitting two feet away from me as I type!! I think it best that we leave it there and I wish you well in what must be a difficult and challenging 12/18 months ahead for your business. | trojan
27/6/2008 19:39 | 7 day delivery | csmwssk1
27/6/2008 19:38 | trojan, i import these suits sorry suites from china and then supply to independents, china 4-6 weeks, italy 6-8 weeks, although everyone prefers china as cheaper, quicker and better quality finish and now with free fungicide! so go talk about something you know, as for british made, there are hardly any left although the uk largest sofa manufacturer turn their orders round in 2 days, only micky mouse firms wait for them, those who pay on delivery can have as quick as they want, then 7 days credit come second, then 30 days come last, only the awkard basstards who want the green one with pink spots have to wait. | csmwssk1
27/6/2008 16:45 | LOL!!!! I knew that would happen when had no crunchies left for today!!! | trojan
27/6/2008 15:58 | Suits !!! Have they diversified ? | karn evil 9
27/6/2008 15:33 | 10 weeks is not the average as most suits take at least two weeks longer than that!!! | trojan
27/6/2008 15:26 | AS A RULE, ONLY IF THEY ARE LATE, AND AS SUCH THE CUSTOMERS USUALLY CANCEL! | csmwssk1
27/6/2008 09:56 | No sofa takes more than 10 weeks??? You are kidding me right, please tell me you're not that blind! lol | mr m
27/6/2008 09:49 | you got the epic for Airsprung? | still waiting
27/6/2008 09:47 | Just have to look at what Airspung have said today about current trading in Upholstery see see how hard trade is. Doomed | clocktower
27/6/2008 09:45 | na, ar u dreaming, a) they had tons of unsold new stock left over at xmas, b) as a rule no sofa takes more than 10 weeks, if it does customers cancel them, 6 months that is funny.... anyway if they had just arrived then the bill will be in from the supplier in the next 7 days.. | csmwssk1
27/6/2008 09:34 | What about all the balances from customers orders and finance payments due from xmas orders? Orders always seem to be delayed somewhat, when people buy at xmas, up to 6 months alot of the time to wait. As i understand, the goods have only been arriving in the last month and now, long time to wait but that could be alot of money couldnt it? | mr m
26/6/2008 22:07 | oh, and thats before wages payday (tomorrow) and the £6m quarterley rent which was due to be paid on tuesday. | csmwssk1
26/6/2008 22:05 | bethany, you should only comment on these things when you have all the facts, lan owe their suppliers £54m and they have circa £16m of customer deposits and only circa £5m in the bank, therefore they have £65m net liabilities, and are losing around £6m per month, they need £150m to have a fighting chance of getting thru this downturn, not £15m. | csmwssk1
26/6/2008 21:23 | If funding goes according to plan no reason why Lan can't trade out of trouble. Companies like Ashstead,Atkins and Invensy to name 3 with huge debts and a declining market managed to be nurse back to good health. Lan,no debt still making a profit with loyal long term backers will do so. Banks thro' their herd mentality suffered huge losses in America are now being over cautious with their business strategy evidently demonstrated in their mortgage lending. Introducing fabric to their range can only be a positive move to bring in more potential customers. Lan's share price has been over done and the probable demise of of its main rival gives Lan a better chance. | bethany3
26/6/2008 10:48 | Land of the Living Dead!!!! | loganair
26/6/2008 10:42 | here here, agreed still, cracking day, maybe we shoulud all give up the day job and do a mobile comedy show for the city, boff that was fantastic, not since someone put on here the new name for lol could be Lack of Leather have I laughed so much, woolies do sell sofas online and in the catalogue, sorry they try to sell them, I know for fact they sell very little, I notice today we have a pulse, its like a nightmare film, it just wont die even after been shot several times! | csmwssk1
26/6/2008 08:17 | And more importantly they do not have a major asset in the form of 2entertaiment which they are likely to sell soon for a wedge of cash greater than their capitisation.... | gluefactory
26/6/2008 08:13 | Unlike WLW they cannot rely on x amount of cash coming through the tills day in day out - WLW takings may drop from time to time but drop in % terms like the sales here have - NO CHANCE. WLW will be around in one form or another for many many years to come imo. | clocktower
26/6/2008 08:07 | We shouldn't jest about woollies selling sofa's as they seem to sell allsorts these days, pardon the pun!! ;) | trojan
26/6/2008 08:04 | Boff - brilliant haven't laughed that much in ages thanks | broadsword2
25/6/2008 17:19 | Since WLW are in the mire too, maybe they could merge. Land of Woolly Leather, perhaps. They could launch a special pick n' mix where you search for furry sweets down the back of a sofa. :) | boffster
25/6/2008 16:25 | nice banter this pm. who says you don't get a laugh out of LOL | still waiting |
