iamnoone: I wonder if the management see some turbulence ahead with the share price being over valued.
asagi: I closed my short a week or so ago when I learned that JustEat was managing to push through 25% commissions (source: a single takeaway) That's not sustainable in my view and will only push takeaways to develop their own solution even faster. However, it would play VERY well in an RNS and the possibility of waking up to a 20% share price rise forced me out. However, I maintain that the shares are grossly overvalued and will come a cropper. I just want to see some signs from the company itself before going back in. Asagi (no position)
hpcg: Naos - does the behaviour you are describing match reality? 1. Most likely people have their favourite Indian, Chinese, Pizza etc 2. How many people browse anything to decide what to eat that evening? That is what people might do for a restaurant, but not a takeaway. 3. JE isn't priced to be one of many, it is priced for near exclusive access to the market. 4. Installing and using apps is how the world increasingly works. The concept of too many apps is really out of touch I think. None of which says anything about the share price in the immediate future as it bears no relation to any conventional metric. However we already know from the announcement that profits will be behind expectations as it was not mentioned at all.
hpcg: The risk in shorting a company like JE which has baked into its share price profits it will never earn is that extrapolating growth investors can drive the share price to even more unrealistic levels. JE will make less in profits in its entire life (which is probably only a few years anyway) than its market cap now.
cabreado: Ha ha. Now you have the site and the app, time to start sending a few thousand emails, hundreds of phone calls, and knocking some doors. Easy!I am sitting strong on JE. Solid steady growth, strong share price, good technology, big database, and most importantly clear and positive financials.
utsushi: nightyard, I agree with you, apologies if I am repeating what has already been said. Very good Interim results and a indifferent market reaction suggests the market shares your view-never a good sign when the share price falls on 62% EBITDA growth. Say underlying EBITDA of £60m full year, gives a rough current EV multiple of 44x! Its possible that the company could eventually grow into the valuation, with branches opening in Brazil/Mexico, and end up with a EV multiple of 15x, but most likely the problems of executing abroad, finding staff, competition, low barriers to entry, different takeaway dining habits, language/geographical issues etc., will mean that overseas cash flow contribution net of start up costs will be slow. There is too much optimism in valuation, too little margin for error, even in the best of companies things tend to go wrong at some point.
neilk2: What you are saying is simply not true, just because you can press the SELL button in a closed market does not mean that you can open a short position. It is clearly stated on I.G that the stock is unborrowable - That means no one in the market is willing to lend their shares. Between 11-50 clients hold positions on I.G, whether that be short or long is neglible on the share price of a company that has a market cap of £1.4bn
