06/8/2007 09:05 | Morning, up up and away. | aussiedonnie
05/8/2007 13:40 | think you shd be filling in substantial shareholder form as thats nearly 40% of the shares in issue. if you get 660 thats 46p over 200m profit. as i say always best to bet big! but dont agree it will push the Dow up | joop mangoo
05/8/2007 13:04 | hopefully they will remain bonkers until they complete this deal. all papers say they have upped their bid to 665/75 today, they also talk about dow getting involved. | 197300
04/8/2007 14:08 | Are Akzo completely bonkers? Despite the markets being on a knife edge, it seems Akzo are about to massively overpay for ICI. Valuation apparently means all synergy benefits go to ICI shareholders and thats on the basis of very favourable assumptions - who can be sure a downturn is not just around the corner? Surely would be wiser to sit back and consider taking advantage of the weak dollar to buy Sherwin-Williams on the cheap, especially if the Dow takes a tumble? | chemical_ali
02/8/2007 23:04 | i bought these at 470,477,611 and 614 i expect them to go to 660 at least.hopefully, dow will join the party and i will then!! | 197300
01/8/2007 17:56 | The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Akzo was facing a potential rebellion after one of its biggest investors, TPG-Axon, said Akzo's offer was too high. Dinakar Singh, managing partner at TPG-Axon, a U.S. asset manager holding a 3.5 percent stake in Akzo, wrote to the Akzo's chairman to outline his opposition, the paper said. "We do not believe this acquisition is justified by numbers and we fear Akzo's approach has become increasingly desperate rather than thoughtful and disciplined," Singh said in a letter seen by the paper. | miata
01/8/2007 14:41 | According to yesterdays' Telegraph Comment, the CEOs of Akzo and ICI are old chums from their seats on Lloyds TSB's board. Seems to me even without a Dow Chemical counterbid those two will agree a £6.75- 6.80 price and no one will lose face. | whatwoman
01/8/2007 12:51 | No smoke without fire! I'm hopeing that they might eventually reach 675 at which point I think I will be out. | sigogne
01/8/2007 11:49 | I don't know how true it is, but if Dow Chemical is really interested then patience does indeed pay. All the best to holders. | whatwoman
31/7/2007 13:38 | Then JP Morgan are insane, in my opinion ...I'll buy theirs! | rcoates96
30/7/2007 17:28 | jp morgan rate this stock underweight with a price target of 480. that presumably will be the price if the takeover does not go through. | 197300
30/7/2007 17:06 | Keep an eye on what Standard Life have to say. They put their foot down very firmly when cs. first came under Tata attention. First offer £4.50 sold for £6.08 BUT with competion from the Brazilians. Seem to remember that Standard Life have a goodly chunk of ICI ttfn | donkeystone
30/7/2007 16:12 | Akzo can go hostile with its £6.50 offer and bypass the ICI board. It can do this if it doesn't want to increase its offer and believe that a majority of shareholders will accept the £6.50. In my opinion a deal will be done, friendly or hostile, be it 6.50 or higher. Akzo doesn't need any of ICI's top management to manage the company, as they are quite experienced in running a chemical giant. | whatwoman
30/7/2007 13:37 | The question for me is where will the share price be if a deal cannot be done ? The indications are that Akzo will not pay much more than 650p and there don't appear to be any other buyers in the wings. I think that it would be hard to support anything like the current MCAP based on the fundamental business....therefor | ride daice
30/7/2007 08:40 | Nearly four years have gone past.....when shrares hit a low of 90p. and now over 600p | psps
30/7/2007 07:09 | £6.50 per share | leadersoffice
29/7/2007 16:48 | Feeling slightly nauseous, having hit my stops last week in the general mayhem .... ho hum! | rcoates96
29/7/2007 06:56 | More in todays Sunday Telegraph ICI to rebuff new £7.7bn Dutch offer By Sylvia Pfeifer, Sunday Telegraph Last Updated: 2:17am BST 29/07/2007 ICI is set to snub a second takeover approach from Akzo Nobel, its Dutch rival, which values the British chemicals group at £7.7bn. Sigogne. | sigogne
28/7/2007 14:56 | Good for you brulot. I still have a small holding in BG and JMAT apart from my holdings in ICI. My very best to all ICI holders. | whatwoman
28/7/2007 11:46 | Sold everything but ICI early last week so for once may have got something right. | brulot
28/7/2007 10:09 | Thanks sigogne, a bit of good news at last. I will go and get my subscription copy of the telegraph, which is excellent value at £2 per week for a whole year. | whatwoman
28/7/2007 06:56 | In todays telegraph....should be interesting Monday. Sigogne. | sigogne |
