I think once it has gone ex divi, then you wont be entitled to the divi, if you subsequently buy in now, even before the 'record date'.

yes same here, it was a big drop. Anyways if an investor buys before friday, will they be entitled to the special dividend, like us?

DECLARATION OF DIVIDEND London, UK - 20 February 2008: The directors of Emap plc (EMA.L) today announce
that, following the completion of the acquisition by H Bauer Verlag of Emap
Consumer Media and Emap Radio and Emap plc's receipt of the proceeds of the
disposals, Emap plc will pay a special dividend of 461 pence per share on 19
March 2008 to those shareholders on the register on 7 March 2008. The
ex-dividend date will be 5 March 2008.

ie the dividend equates to the drop in price. (worried me a little first thing this am)

BPB fell back 1% today so it seems EMA will stay in the FTSE 100 after all. Are these things ever manipulated?

Looks like EMA may exit the FTSE 100 at this week's review - it's going to be a close call

Dondee, it's got a further to go yet. PSON is reporting this week so EMA will probably suffer from sympathy pain.

Bird thank you for pointing the way to EMA. I think now is the time to short.

EMA formed a Double Top in May & June and the predicted decline took it to 720 where it consolidated into an upward sloping Flag (v. negative). It's now broken through the Resistance at 705 and it is on its way down to 640. To add to its troubles the RSI is in negative terrority and declining.

I might wait for it to retrace back towards 705 before shorting. But what ever happens it will do so within a month.

Regards Lex.
