11/8/2006 10:31 | Markets taking the new acquisition announcement well. If we can break the previous high (aropund 297), we are onto new highs. Doc | srhm11
07/8/2006 09:03 | Toase, it is merely the charts re-adjusting themselves, the price did not however actually reach such a low point. Currently looking to get into this (within the next 4 weeks), but I shall await for some calm in the share price before I do, so I can establish a good starting point. | munkoman
03/8/2006 16:51 | Why did the price drop so much around the time of the split? | toase
03/8/2006 16:44 | Doing well today. Suppose Inforens acquisition being accepted as good news by the market. Wonder who they will buy with the cash saved? | srhm11
01/8/2006 10:39 | Yes. Looks a great outfit, at the forefront of the (highly intellectual) business and a good fit for Detica..... and profitable too! I would expect Detica to handle them with a light touch and cause minimal disruption, focussing on channelling them to new markets and global clients that Inforenz alone would find it difficult to access. (I've no connection with Info..... unfortunately!) | hew
31/7/2006 11:53 | Anybody still reading this board? If so, any thoughts on todays announcement? Regards Doc | srhm11

04/6/2006 23:05 | OUTLOOK Detica profit set to jump on booming public sector market LONDON (AFX) - Computer services consultancy Detica Group PLC will report strong full-year results on Monday, powered by a strong UK public sector market and increased spending on national security. The UK company, which also sells consultancy services to technology, financial services, media and telecoms companies, will report pretax profit excluding goodwill amortisation of 10.9 mln stg versus an adjusted 9.0 mln a year earlier, according to the average forecast of nine analysts supplied by the company. Detica's main market, the UK public sector, has remained buoyant thanks to increased government spending on information technology to help monitor and assess national security threats and also to make efficiency savings. Detica's UK government customers include Her Majesty's Customs and Excise and the Department of Transport. "We expect growth in the second half to be driven by (Detica's) government business, with UK national security still making up more than 50 pct of group sales," Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein analyst Bob Liao wrote in a research note. Outside the UK Detica has begun to target the American intelligence market, which is worth an estimated 50 bln usd per year, according to investment bank Jefferies International. Detica, which has appointed former Homeland Security Advisor to American President George W Bush, John Gordon, as its US chairman, has yet to make a profit in the US. However, it recently won a consultancy contract with the US government worth about 0.5 mln usd and could mirror the growth achieved in the UK government sector, analysts believe. In its half-year results Detica reported sales up by 35 pct and gave a confident trading outlook. Detica shares have risen by more than 60 pct in the last year, hitting an all-time high of 1,352 pence in April. nick.huber@afxnews.c | robson1974

21/3/2006 22:39 | Ouch!! Took my profits at 13.00 and was looking to buy back in, mainly because after the previous 2 peaks the drop was around £1. This drop now looks overdone, I think I'll just watch for now until it stablises, still see no medium term reason why it shouldnt hit £14.50 forecasts though. | screamer
21/3/2006 13:32 | Results arent due to be announced until 5 June. Surely there's another explanation? | judge jury
21/3/2006 10:33 | pretty worrying pre-results downturn I would say. | ben gunn
20/3/2006 19:59 | 5% drop and no comment? interesting - i guess it means all holders are longterm or already out i'm longterm but i did top-slice -couldn't resist banking some of the gain from 700p | artful dodger

01/2/2006 23:39 | Judge Jury, Good informative posts, cheers. I think the potential sales in the US govt arena could be huge if DCA crack it properly. Any major announcements in that area could make the £14.50 price target look very conservative. Interesting comments on SSN, talks with potential buyers could well be whats caused this recent push. Having said that, wouldn't they be duty bound to disclose that such talks were taking place. Screamer | screamer
01/2/2006 12:35 | More interesting snippets regarding possible acquisitions in the US: "We believe that in order to achieve the aims of the US business and capitalise on the experienced (and likely expensive) board, Detica US will acquire to add scale to take advantage of its technology lead. We believe that this will be structured as a deal to add personnel and incumbent clients. The structure of the US subsidiary should allow for local compensation and stock incentive programmes and if necessary for raising capital in the US." "We believe it is likely the company will use existing funds and a possible sale of part of the SSN business to fund acquisitions in the United States. We believe the most likely source of capital would be an equity placement either in the UK or in the United States, thereby improving the free float and liquidity. However, assuming our forecast cash balance at year-end, a potential sale of a stake in SSN for up to £15m, and gearing of up to 50%, we believe Detica could raise approximately £50m in cash for acquisitions." | judge jury |
