09/11/2015 08:07 | Well, I had no idea the term was so recondite... The archaic form is use as a noun I think. | edmundshaw
08/11/2015 12:59 | Bruiting verb 1. (transitive; often passive) usually followed by about. to report; rumour: 'it was bruited about that the king was dead'. noun. 2.(archaic) a rumour a loud outcry; clamour Word Origin C15: via French from Medieval Latin brūgītus, probably from Vulgar Latin bragere (unattested) to yell + Latin rugīre to roar | lord gnome
07/11/2015 19:50 | Had to look bruit up as I've never heard it before. Which part of the world is that term used in? | aleman
05/11/2015 21:34 | Good to see Finncap has seen the undervaluation and is bruiting it about :-) Thanks David. | edmundshaw
05/11/2015 13:47 | thanks David-it is worth a listen | robow
05/11/2015 13:00 | This may be worth a listen... | davidosh
21/10/2015 20:09 | Thanks, worth a read. Paul has good instincts, but the number of companies he looks at means his research is sometimes a bit shallow... imo. | edmundshaw
21/10/2015 17:14 | hxxp://www.stockoped Paul Scott on CNCT after discussion with the FO, worth reading. | johnroger
16/10/2015 22:17 | Harvey Nash is moderately rated, especially compared to its peers, sometimes has a cash pile (depending on WIP), and a good dividend. Steady plodder I have held for many years with occasional buying selling opportunities courtesy of Mr Market. Also pretty happy with CMS and its printing/marketing cousin SIV, both around the 4% yield, all 3 have raised their dividend very consistently over the years. I have held Clarkson (CKN) in the past from the last downturn in shipping yonks back, but exited when I didnt like the shipping forecasts, apparently too early, though I did well enough; not sure why I never entered Braemar as well... | edmundshaw
16/10/2015 16:25 | BMS - braemar shipping One of my long term favourites, results due soon, should be ok. Steady plodder sometimes gives great buying opps if the market flaps about the Baltic Dry Index. Currently averagely priced I would say but good divi and expansion potential. | danieldruff2
16/10/2015 16:14 | Daniel & Edmund, please share. | micos
16/10/2015 15:54 | Ddruff, I know of a couple that I am happy with, be interested to hear of other good dividend payers though that are not too risky. Or foreign. | edmundshaw
16/10/2015 15:32 | I sold out today as I think the undervaluation has mainly been closed. 150m is a lot of debt and I can find companies paying a similar dividend that have net cash. | danieldruff2
16/10/2015 15:23 | Cigar butt? Hrumph. That is maybe a description of the old declining news distribution business, but as a cigar butt it has a lot of puffs left in it. Meanwhile the diversified businesses have varying potential, but if one or two of these take off we are definitely ex ex-growth. Meanwhile dividends and acquisitions are keeping the ship on a better than even keel, with dividends increasing for years. Tightly managed, too cheap at a PER of 8x IMO. | edmundshaw
16/10/2015 13:22 | 14 Oct 15 Daily Telegraph recommend holding CNCT for income: | mundungus
14/10/2015 18:36 | Not sure whether to consider these good results or not. Adjust operating cashflow for working cap and it was up 23.5%. Shares in issue rose slightly more than that, but the acquisition didn't quite contribute 2/3rds of a year. On balance, respectable results and possibly good ones. I'd hope to see the shares rise slightly from their current levels as things seem to be doing fine after the acquisition but the shares had seemed to be taking a slightly cautious view. | aleman
14/10/2015 17:00 | IC maintaining their 'Buy' rating for CNCT. The review of results will be in this week's edition, on line today already. Here's the summary: Connect's shares are marginally up since our buy tip (150p, 20 Nov 2014), but still trade on just eight times forecast earnings and yield nearly 6 per cent. That reflects the big debt pile - exacerbated by the Tuffnells acquisition - and the risks associated with managing a declining business. But judging by these results, Connect is delivering on its promises of careful cost management and expansion into growth markets. Buy. | lord gnome

14/10/2015 09:47 | Hope it works out for you CWA. I am staying put. Operating profits up 13% but given the dilution factor of over 10% that adds up to underlying profits per share up only a little (they state EPS is up 0.5% adjusted). In addition there is a considerable increase in debt per share to pay for the acquisition. However, Tufnells has only been a part of the group for around 8 months, so a full year's earnings from them will look quite a bit better. I consider therse results rather transitional, and as stated in the prospectus, the acquisition was always expected to be "earnings enhancing in Year 1 and substantially enhancing in Year 3". | edmundshaw
14/10/2015 08:25 | Morning All Well, the results didn't seem to be the harbinger of doom that yesterday's late drop seems to have foretold. However the overall tone of the market and my current, high cash-risk aversion state, pushed me in to flogging the small parcel I bought for a modest but OK turn. To paraphrase Arnie: I'm sure I'll be back! | cwa1
14/10/2015 08:08 | Market response seems tepid at best. Disappointing. | lord gnome
14/10/2015 07:46 | Headline numbers look very good and Mark Cashmore sounds very bullish for the future. Perhaps this statement might just be what we need to turn the tide for Connect's share price. | lord gnome
14/10/2015 07:12 | Really confident statement today. I like it when a plan comes together ... | 18bt
13/10/2015 19:33 | Not at all sure about today's price action. If anything had really leaked there would have been much greater volume. That 155p trade after the bell looks odd though. All will be revealed at 07.00 tomorrow morning. | lord gnome
13/10/2015 18:11 | mrf, you are a sceptic! Though, not entirely without reason I suspect.... | cwa1 |
