And up again today. Still think it's being shorted?

Between the 3 of them they own 11.2m shares, making that an increase of 0.9% of their total holding, mmm.
Co-ordinated token director buys, waste of time.

101K shares picked up by the directors over the last couple of days. Not too shabby a vote of confidence.

"This precisely proves my point from yesterday - look for good quality businesses that pay a good dividend and forget about the short term share price movement."

I also hold REDD for that reason.

... indeed .... but look at the UT close ... 126.5p Peel were sitting on 130 at 4.30 with 3000 shares on offer so how it can uncross with 2820 shares at 126.5 is beyond me ... took a screen dump of the closing auction and will send it to Cenkos.

Up over 10p from yesterday on paltry volume of only 330,000 shares. This precisely proves my point from yesterday - look for good quality businesses that pay a good dividend and forget about the short term share price movement.

Anyone short this stock has not had a happy day today.

Nice jump today even if we are still some way short of when the directors bought in December. Ok you have to strip out the divi but we should be trading at 160p to 170p given a fair wind. A nice IPO or placing would help but I hope today's jump is the beginning of a change in sentiment towards our stock

Small press comment on appointment of Cenkos as joint corporate broker to Aberdeen Asset Management which was announced yesterday...

New joint broker for Aberdeen -

Aberdeen Asset Management has announced the appointment of Cenkos Securities as joint corporate broker alongside the company's existing brokers, JP Morgan Cazenove and Credit Suisse Securities (Europe). It marks another significant client win for traditional UK broker Cenkos, which punched above its weight in the floats of the AA in 2014 and BCA Marketplace last year.

Keith - shorting AIM shares, whilst not unheard of, is a bit of a mug's game. It's much easier to the move the SP, it's true, but they're so illiquid that there's a fine line between shorting and market manipulation.

In particular, shorting CNKS is like juggling with dynamite - yes, you might take 10p, 20p, perhaps more on your short, but they announce a really big deal and the share price might easily pop 50p north. Good way to get absolutely shafted, and the ensuing short squeeze would make it even worse. There are much better shorting opportunities out there if that's your thing.

Thanks for your thoughts dangersimpson.

I don't really short individual stocks and if I did why would you short a relatively small profitable company with net cash. If they announce a large deal why take the risk of being short - like I said if you were going to short there are much better candidates out there.

There are a few things I look for in a short sale:

- large market cap (improves liquidity & makes a takeover less likely)
- High valuation
- large or growing debt (accelerates impact of bad news)
- Bad business model, or obsolete product obscured by promotional management.

None of these apply to Cenkos. So applying Occam's Razor, which is more likely:

1. Shorts have created multiple offshore vehicles to specifically target Cenkos.
2. MM's are conspiring to move prices around unnecessarily.
3. Someone is selling a few and there are not as many matching buyers around.

Unless you have recently suffered an alien abduction then I think you will agree 3. is much more likely!

keith95 - the MMs may well be playing games, but I'm not sure many people are likely to be shorting CNKS. IF they pull off a decent sized deal the share price is likely to respond.

Given the cash on the balance sheet, and chance they may pull off a deal or two - why would someone choose to short the stock? There are much better shorting opportunities out there on mid to large caps. BWFDIK.

Quite an impressive appointment for Cenkos. They have been appointed as joint corporate broker to Aberdeen Asset Management (ADN) alongside JP Morgan Cazenove and Credit Suisse.

Check the FCA's daily register of short trades - CNKS either has zero or less than 0.5% of the stock shorted at the current time. If a buy is showing up, it's almost certainly just a buy.

Seems a fair summary from last year if no-one has seen it...
