Lets be honest the only reason Officemax have the kiosks on-site are strictly for higher levels of profit.

The kiosks offer a superior mark up on products and maybe because of this they may make small sacrifices.

In terms of staff having problems refilling perhaps they needed more in-depth training and information available all problems of an overambitious rollout where it seems corners were cut. They still have a chance to put things right if officemax thought it was a poor solution they could of demanded removal of the kiosks they decided not too.

malkie:. why do you say manual. I understood that the purging, refilling and test print were all automatic and computer controlled. If so the concept is excellent and very GREEN. Can you be more specific about manual?

its alright filling 69 cartridges in 1 day - but its not every day.

Officemax cant be happy with the entire business model.

Manually re-filling is messy & far too labour intensive. Not every member of staff has the manual dexterity - so its not the opportunity they originally thought it would be.

Cartucho had their chance to wow them - they let them down instead.

Office max need a quicker, simpler, cleaner more automated solution, and there are more than likely to be developments afoot within the industry to provide this.

I know one machine done 69 last week in one day which was a record. My contact has been re elected to the board and is currently back in usa trying to get the machine roll out back on trak with office max, he is the guy who set up the original deal.

Hi all just been looking into this company over the past wk and i have read all the bad news however i think this one may just be oversold?

As things stand we know the co has 379 machines in operation with a customer in the states presently they have a revenue sharing agreement.

Some really dodgy figures here but tell me what you think...

If 300 stores sell on average 10 refills per day 5 days a week that = 15000 per week multiply say 30% of say 15 dollars = £45k per week. This is allowing for 20 percent of the 379 machines being out of action at any one time due to service issues, and only assuming that the stores are open 5 days a week where we know they are open six days. Also with an estate of machines that when new must of had an individual selling price of say 20k they do have assets in place although now second hand what there resell value would be vastly reduced especially if they have a surplus of machines. From reading between the lines they must have a factory with possibly !!! kiosks that are waiting to be shipped due to the failed roll-out.

At present they have a m/cap of 1.8mill...

Now i could be way out with these figures anyone in the know pls let me know thanks

Also anyone that hasn't seen their machine yet they have six in Salisbury's stores a company by the name of ink-station part of (digiprint) is running them i don't know what type of agreement they have in place.

From what i gather the board should be issuing an update re the service issues after meeting with their outsourced maintenance co and their major customer over the next month or so.

Ive had a small punt for now as the spread is terrible but definitely one to keep an eye on..

If anyone has anything to share pls do

You dont have to believe me double6 but i know the previous owners personally. One of the original partners is now back in control and has assured me they are looking to take control of the company again. He is also the guy who set up the original office max deal and is hoping to get the machine roll out back on track.
