12/9/2005 09:29 | Hmmm.... The loss of The Body Shop International account after 11 years is the latest in a series of client losses since Nigel Mills, the Dutch bank's top broker, and six senior colleagues jumped ship to Citigroup in May. ABN Amro lost the WH Smith account, also to Merrill Lynch, in July, after UBS and Goldman Sachs had jointly whisked away Cadbury Schweppes in June. In a short statement, The Body Shop said: "The Body Shop International today announces the appointment of Merrill Lynch International as the company's sole corporate broker with immediate effect." A spokesman played down speculation that The Body Shop was seeking to bolster its defences after analysts said that some retailers and financial buyers viewed it as a potential takeover target. He said: "ABN Amro had been the broker since 1994 and the move is just part of the normal reviewing process." ABN Amro and | entj
19/6/2005 21:31 | alan6012, you are absolutely correct! BBs are not the place to post the comments I am considering. Instead, let's just consider: 1. Track record 2. Strength, breadth & depth of brand equity 3. Management competence and style. Always a matter of opinion of course but my opinion is that there is a BIG difference | entj
17/6/2005 17:36 | Rupan - Certainly not the same management OR the same market. | alan6012
17/6/2005 16:10 | Nice to see the tips in IC mags being more correct nowadays. They just reiterated what IC said about a month ago. Looks like this is going to be followed by the likes of Victory (VRY). Same management same market and currently very undervalued. Might move my money from here to VRY. Anyone else heard about Victory Corporation ( They own Virgin Vie). Rupan | koetser

17/6/2005 09:50 | I sold a couple of months back but bought back in after it dropped below 200. The charts have been looking good for a while. I wonder if the trading news will raise the interest of potential buyers ? | entj
17/6/2005 09:12 | should be some happy shareholders there today | teasle
26/5/2005 14:22 | Yes, their profits have risen three years running now and are expected to rise another 25% to 30% over the next two | simclark
26/5/2005 10:38 | This stock has risen about 30% in 4 weeks and is now at an all time high as far as I can tell. Yet no BB comments, no relevant press comment. Looks to me like one of the few retail businesses that is interesting right now. Any knowledgable punters out there? | entj
19/4/2005 10:21 | You should thank me for keeping the price up by opening a short bet! | superdealer
18/4/2005 15:53 | superdealer -I suspect you've made a good decision. The only niggly little thing holding me at the moment is that the recent pattern looks very like the one we saw in early January after which we saw a fair bounce up. Market context different today of course - retailers a bit out of fashion at the moment. I should have paid more attention to the chart signals a few weeks back and got out to get back in again later. Still think someone has to do something with this business. Otherwise it's just plodding along aimlessly! | entj
18/4/2005 10:54 | I'm out and I've opened a short as well. Although the whole market is down today I think Body Shop has a lot further to fall in the absence of any bid. | superdealer
08/4/2005 13:07 | We could do with more bid talk to prop up the price. | superdealer
09/2/2005 11:52 | More retail consolidation hppening. Somerfield today, BOS tomorrow? | entj

12/1/2005 14:44 | Why is the price rising? Should have thought that was pretty obvious. Those with the right contacts have probably had a sneak preview of Friday's trading statement. Hope this is the reason because they should go even higher on Friday. I have seen this so often for other companies, whenever an announcement is due there is usually a noticeable change in the share price a day or two beforehand. Often a gentle creep up or down. | ramblerman
12/1/2005 14:19 | well i'll be damned, i wonder why this is rising | spob |
