Albania's Fertile Grounds for Oil Opportunities

Frank Holmes, CEO and Chief Investment Officer, U.S. Global Investors writes:

This was my third trip to Albania. I last visited the country in 2004 when we were seed investors in another oil play there, Bankers Petroleum. Today Bankers' Albanian discovery is the largest onshore oilfield in all of Europe. The company is now close to 40 percent of Albania's FDI and is reinvesting all cash flow back into the country, about $300 million per year. Bankers has done an amazing job cleaning up the environmental disaster left behind by previous operators of the assets which Bankers is developing. Today the fields are green and sheep roam freely. Old and dirty early rigs have been replaced with new safer, cleaner technology.
So much has changed since my last visit. The country is more prosperous and more verdant. Capital city Tirana's infrastructure and roads have improved by a quantum leap in the past 10 years. Every morning I ran in Rinia Park, the large central public park, with Marin Katusa of Casey Research. We were impressed with the hundreds of locals jogging at 7 a.m.

Bankers Petroleum Operational Update for the First Quarter 2014
Production, Sales and Oil Prices
Average production from the Patos-Marinza oilfield in Albania for the first quarter of 2014 was 19,911 barrels of oil per day (bopd), 3.2% higher than 19,303 bopd in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Oil sales during the quarter averaged 18,435 bopd, 6.5% lower than the previous quarter average of 19,710 bopd as a result of the final export cargo of the quarter slipping into the second quarter due to weather delays. The crude oil inventory at March 31, 2014 increased 43% to 444,000 barrels, 133,000 barrels higher than 311,000 barrels at December 31, 2013.
The Patos-Marinza first quarter average oil price was approximately $87.35 per barrel (representing 81% of the Brent oil price of $108.22 per barrel), as compared with the fourth quarter average oil price of $85.71 per barrel (representing 78% of the Brent oil price of $109.27 per barrel).

Apols also for OT. - Management at SLE not sharpest knives in the box likewise the Aurelian team pre merger.
Negatives are:- Deep Water, need floating kit not jack-up, very high pressure x2 typical well pressures, and low viscosity but it does flow.
I am also invested (if invest is the accurate word) in GKP!
Enjoy rest of week-end, I'm off into sunshine for an hour or two.

UJ - or Shell. This Albanian licence seems Great to,own but a real pain to JV. So tells me That after years of trying, it obviously Can t be as promisung as we would like it to be otherwise it would have been snapped up a long time ago...comme e i m wrong. Sorry for ot

You could do some of us a favour and expand the company by buying the off-shore Albania project from SLE. SLE has 80 licenses over several countries, we surely don't need 'em all!
It is discovered, high pressure and heavy which BNK understands.
Simples!

This seems fair value for the current production and reserves.

Where is the future growth here?

The main reason to invest here would be as a takeover target, but that is a risky game to play.

Is there a dividend payable on this stock?

.

I listened to their latest podcast. As usual work in progress.

David French the new CEO, about 40% through spelled out some reasons why he joined the company.
The language was a bit technical at times but for me was more of the same as I have listened to a few now.
The two paragraphs starting with, "Exploration for oil is a speculative business that involves a high degree of risk." says it all I suppose so I will keep watching.

So US$3.72 = £2.4399 and the share price currently is considerably below that not even counting 2P and 3P.
Thanks for the above summary Boilerboy, I have just noticed, "Warrants are listed on the TSX under the symbol BNK.WT and on AIM under the symbol BNKW. Its' 2012 Warrants are listed on the TSX under the symbol BNK.WT.A."
They didn't used to have warrants over here so I will have to look at that.
