Robert: please never follow any red hot tips! Please do your own research and re-evaluate a company to see if you still think its good value for you. I normally cast my eye over companies again I've bought that go up significantly and ask myself, would I buy this again today? If the answer is 'yes', I will hold and possibly top up, if not, consider selling. But tipsters often have very hidden motives and have stakes (direct or indirect) in the companies they tip and ramp and deramp. Please be very careful. Best of luck.

Ps Can't see this share will go anything but down in my opinion. Yes tablets are becoming more popular, but that doesn't mean AZEM are the best in their sector and have a piece of the action. Tablet sales have been rising for some time, but that hasn't been translated in AZEM's performance which has gone in the other direction. In fact, as NEIL pointed out, they envisage 'softness' in demand which would worry me as an investor here. I agree, profits warning likely and insiders probably know it hence the decline in share price Trading update was very alarming to me.

A number of other analysts have also recently weighed in on AZEM. Analysts at Societe Generale reiterated a buy rating on shares of AZ Electronic Materials SA in a research note to investors on Monday, August 20th. They now have a $5.71 price target on the stock. Separately, analysts at Numis Securities Ltd reiterated a buy rating on shares of AZ Electronic Materials SA in a research note to investors on Wednesday, August 22nd. Finally, analysts at Goldman Sachs reiterated a buy/neutral rating on shares of AZ Electronic Materials SA in a research note to investors on Thursday, August 23rd. All wee need to do know is for the share price to respond upwards rather than down!

Hi Richard
At the start of the year I decided to concentrate on putting monies into paying off the mortgage rather than shares - The first time I have ever done this. It does make me feel happier I must admit.

I dont see myself as a trader, more as an investor so these cycles that happen oh so very often, I don't (or try not to) get too excited when things go wrong anymore. I have only a handful of s-bets and hold no CFD's any longer having been burnt badly in the past.

I look at the fundamentals in some shares and high risk reward in others.

General market, greece will default at some point. Not sure of the fallout from this as it seems to be priced in to a point - HOWEVER, if you look at many shares, they are at the support level on many, signalling that they could fall sharply or rise sharply - depends on news / fear factor.

I have about 95% in shares and 5% savings with a considerable £££ holdings.

AZ has received notification that The Carlyle Group and Vestar Capital Partners (the original "Major Shareholders") have today each sold their residual shareholding in the Company to institutional investors, through a combined placing of 44,097,548 shares conducted by Deutsche Bank (the "Placing").

mmm City seems keen 4 it and why not.

Rob - it's been an interesting few days for the market. The FTSE fell early afternoon due to talks with Greece being delayed (thus default risk increases and investors scale down their equity positions).

In my view, mid-caps such as AZ (especially the ones that have performed well recently) are the first to get sold off.

On the other hand, maybe a few fund managers decided to shuffle their positions before results!

Choppa's post above

I tried to read Investors Chronicle but it's subscription only, I'll have to spend some time in Tesco's reading it.

Can anyone post it on here?

According the FT:

'AZ Electronic Materials was the biggest loser on the second tier index after private equity investors in the speciality chemicals maker put 21 per cent of the company up for sale, priced at 302p per share. The move came a day after strong demand for the stock over the previous session from tracker funds it was added to an index compiled by MSCI. The stock fell 10 per cent to 303.9p after a rise of 8 per cent on Tuesday.'

Fayde,

I considered buying into this before the results, but opted out as the charts looked flat and the trading pattern before the results were erratic the say the least. The drop on results day didn't surprise me as I would have taken profits at this point. I think the drop has less to do with Japan, just investors using that as an excuse to take their profits. I think, yes the worldwide scene looks uncertain. I believe that there will still be a demand for technology products, especially in communications.
