According to analysts at Liberum, despite the ongoing difficulties in the sugar division, the 30 per cent fall in profits was not as bad as predicted.
Liberum said AB Foods had gone through a 'transition year', with performance set to start turning a corner, particularly with Primark's ongoing success.
A Liberum analyst said: 'We estimate that Primark can double sales and profits over the next five years.'

LOL no ,

I`ve been meeting my lovely wife up there for lunch for the last two days. She`s having meetings this week in London to sell her uk business interests.

So when I arrive by train into Paddington you can`t fail to see all this hooha going on. If you know the station, the filming is taking place by the new Hammersmith & City exit , along to Merchant Square and near The Point building.... using the waterway as well.

Supposedly going to be a lot of gunfire noise tomorrow , warning signs up everywhere :-)

FY results a little ahead of estimates; outlook calls for modest year-on-year EPS decline

November 3 2015 Morning briefing

SECTORS: Foods

COMPANIES: Associated British Foods

DAVY VIEW

ABF delivered a third year of broadly stable earnings, offsetting sugar profit declines and FX headwinds through Primark growth and improvements in the Grocery and Ingredients divisions. The reduction in net debt was particularly noteworthy (0.1x EBITDA), driven by lower capex and disposal proceeds. The 2015/16 outlook calls for good underlying trading to continue into the current year. As previously flagged by ABF however, FX transactional impacts will temper reported performance and a modest decline in adjusted operating profit and adjusted EPS is expected. Our current EPS forecast is 100.2p, c.2% below the 2015 outturn
