20/1/2015 11:46 | Picked up 20,000. Three brokers have strong buy on this with target price of over 50p! | dan de lion
20/1/2015 11:41 | Falling energy prices will be weighing on the share price but electricity prices have a fairly loose correlation with oil. Sometime around now will be a great buying opportunity when looked at in a year's time. I have no cash though. | puffintickler
20/1/2015 10:08 | SP not inconsistent with Brent crude. Or am I wrong? | timnet
20/1/2015 09:32 | Personally I'd try and identify reason for fall, particularly given normal share price stability, before being tempted to add ~ maybe (due) trading update isn't so hot and someone has got wind? | rollthedice
20/1/2015 09:22 | Trading update was on the 20th last year, should be one due anytime now? | dan de lion
20/1/2015 09:19 | This continues to be hammered. I definitely got in too early at 38p but am tempted to add. | audigger
19/1/2015 19:31 | Many thanks - imo a very steady SP, nothing wrong with that but further research and no bid for the co that i can see - i will watch from the sidelines ATB | 123qwer
19/1/2015 15:19 | 123 - I bought back in recently (30p), having held and sold in past. Never had an enormous holding but really like the company (apart from shale). See post above from Glass re recent update from co. Last year we had an update as an RNS at this time. Currently market cap £34m. Net assets £33m end of LAST FY (Dec 13). Added to capacity since then, but added debt and issued shares. Hope this helps. share price crystal ball not working :) Others welcome to correct or update, please. There were results at HY14 which are more up to date. | m4rtinu
18/1/2015 12:00 | I was very interested in this comapny at one time. Where do you see the share price in a few months time please? | 123qwer
13/1/2015 16:11 | Certainly does! Thanks Glass | m4rtinu
12/1/2015 17:21 | We've actually received a recent update from the CEO regarding the oil price & non-impact on ALK via the undernoted interview he provided on 19th Dec. Towards the end of the broadcast in relation to 2015 he mentions, "record levels of production" & importantly, "...current noise around the oil industry isn't really impacting on UK electricity prices which are much more driven by gas, so we'll probably be getting flat if not slightly rising prices into next year, so rising prices, rising output, mean we are very, very optimistic about prospects for 2015." Hope this helps clarify. Regards, GHF | glasshalfull
12/1/2015 16:25 | Thanks all - so ALK are immune from the oil price due to EC rules that state the UK must have X% electricity generated via clean tech gas to power? | boystown
12/1/2015 16:00 | Yep Riv, I agree that the ALK contracts are probably largely immune from the oil price. | spaceparallax
12/1/2015 15:26 | Can we expect a trading update next week? ALK are usually quite prompt with these. | m4rtinu
12/1/2015 14:59 | Yup, riv. They will be coining in money by being on standby. However, .gov has been quietly subsidising gas-fired stations over the last few years - to fill the gap caused by their ill-judged spending on windmills and lack of future planning on nuclear and conventional plant, coupled with lunatic EU regulations that led to us importing hardwood from north america to burn in stations that weren't allowed to burn coal. I don't know the size of the gap; it'll be exposed in the event of a major increase in demand. apad | apad
12/1/2015 14:10 | Surely the problem which ALK is addressing is CAPACITY and AVAILABILITY of gas/power in the UK, which is becoming more and more of a problem - the oil price is irrelevant in that respect. Happy to be educated/corrected if not the case. | rivaldo
12/1/2015 10:26 | What about cheap oil? With $50 a barrel, doesn’t electrical power generation become far cheaper so Alkane’s energy gets priced out? I would have thought that power companies are also able to hedge ahead at this price so won’t Alkane suffer for the foreseeable? | boystown
12/1/2015 09:00 | Thanks rivaldo, feeling more confident now. | nofool
12/1/2015 08:31 | ALK is tipped for 2015 by Andrew Monk of VSA Capital here, with some interesting comments about the UK's gas storage needs OT : nofool, there are a mere 135,000 shares being admitted on Tuesday, net of the directors' options which have already been dealt with. Hardly "flooding", more like a trickle! Http ://www.shareprophets "So to Energy stocks – we are going to do much more in Energy and of course top of the list is my old favourite – Alkane Energy which will be taken private if the price doesn’t bounce soon, but also I think Drax is interesting as it crashed after it was fined at the back of last year but it’s a good stock and shouldn’t have fallen as far so that is my Tip for 2015. Now also I missed telling you about the DT article on Monday : MP Charles Hendry: UK urgently needs more gas storage facilities The UK has always had much less gas storage than other countries – just over two weeks’ supply for the UK, compared with 100-120 days in France and Germany. In the past, that didn’t matter too much, as the North Sea itself was our gas storage facility and when more gas was needed, more could be pumped out. We need to accept, however, that those days are gone. In four of the last nine winters, our gas storage volumes have been disturbingly low, and almost always because of matters entirely beyond our control. The point is he is right and that is why we recently were appointed to Infrastrata as joint Broker – because they are gas storage !! Gas Storage is a very good business to be in right now. " | rivaldo
11/1/2015 18:03 | Then you have the issue of more shares flooding the market on Tuesday.. | nofool
11/1/2015 17:56 | AuDigger, is the share price not falling due to the fall in the price of Natural Gas, rather than oil? ..or both? | nofool
09/1/2015 14:34 | As I'm sure most of you know, trades often get misreported as to whether they are BUYS or SELLS. I bought a small number this am @ 30.2p. | m4rtinu
07/1/2015 18:51 | After the RNS's just now I think it's fair to say the 2 Directors taking their options & then selling chunks of shares to pay their Tax liability & costs hasn't helped either. | mortimer7
06/1/2015 13:21 | Unfortunately the price of oil appears to be the key factor driving the share price down. | audigger
05/1/2015 15:48 | worth saying that the fracking potential remains, albeit view our sizeable stake in the partner business. | spaceparallax |
