The ADVFN app has been updated to version 1.2.

We are working on a larger release (for iOS and Android) and will be introducing Portfolio to the app soon.

You can get this latest update by hitting the App Store button on your phone and going to Updates, or by clicking the link below.

In this update:

Bugs have been fixed, including unexpected crashing and problems with Toplists (available via the Monitor screen)

Candlesticks, OHLC bars and a volume toggle are now available on the charts.

To change the way data is displayed on the charts, swipe to the left. You can then choose a line, candlesticks or OHLC bars and can toggle the volume indicator on and off.

A bigger update is coming and Portfolio is still very much on the cards for the app.

Hi all - does anyone else have the same issue refreshing the favourites in the BB? I have an Iphone 4s and I can pull down and release to refresh the Free BB section no problem, but when I switch to the Favourites and do the same it doesn't refresh. Any ideas on how to refresh this page other than to keep logging off and back on again?

I have recently upgraded to a mobile subscription in the hope that the app. Would not continually shut down when I flick between monitors. It appears that I still have this problem. Is it a known bug? Very frustrating.

What happens if you press the upgrade button when the IOS app times out? Does it take you to a page to confirm the update or something else?

Hello A040502,

You can get the FTSE 100 on your monitor by entering the symbol UKX

Please, go to monitor and have a look on the top left corner. You will find a Quote box. Just enter UKX and you wil have a list of symbol. Just tap the plus at the right hand side of the right one.

The app isn't available for Kindle Fire I'm afraid, it's something we're hoping to do soon though.

It sounds like you might be on iOS 4, which has a bug like that for some people. I would highly recommend updating to at least iOS 5 if you can ( see ). If you aren't using iOS 4, it would be really useful to get your so we can see what the cause of the problem might be.

Down loaded app as soon as you hit the icon it crashes can't get a thing on it. Every thing I have ever try with ADVFN has failed don't have much luck here but will keep trying as sounds like a useful app

Hi jgpgw - I was probably one of the first users to load the app when it launched in Aug, however, I have to continually delete it and load a new one as my screen just keeps on freezing. This usually happens after I get informed that I am already logged onto the desktop application. It then (I assume) logs me out of my desktop connection and then prompts me to log-in on the App using my credentially again, and then freezes. I have to delete the app and load it again for it to work.

Any ideas what I need to do? I am currently using the Iphone 4S.

The more i use the app the more i like. As such I have subscribed since i use IG app all the time i found myself switching often to the advfn app.


Please can a consideration be made to paying app customers at least to allow both a mobile app and the usual main website to be connected to live prices at the same time. Its amazing how useful this would be for me as i use my desktop and ipad at the same time when researching and trading.

What version of iOS are you running? If you are running iOS 5 or later, it would be very handy to get your crash logs. If you can send them over to [e-mail] we can get the bug fixed in the next update.

On my iPhone the app has recently kept closing down whenever you do something.

just to confirm, had the issue above with it not loading (and grew quite frustrated) i gave the phone to my youngest who updated it for me (i wouldn't know what to do) and it now seems to work fine.

advfn support and this thread helped to sort it.

hopefully it will keep working but will let you know if it doesn't...apparently i am now ios6 whatever that means.

We've had some reports of the app not loading at all for some people. It is looking like this only happens on devices running iOS 4 or lower. Unless you have a REALLY old phone (the or the ), you should be able to update to iOS 5 or even the latest iOS 6 without too much trouble.

If you are in the 2% who use iOS 4 or lower, I would highly recommend plugging your phone into your computer, firing up iTunes and getting the latest update to the OS.

You'll get some cool new features like free text messages to other iPhones and a camera button from the lock screen as well :)
