UK public sector net borrowing reported a deficit in March

In the UK, the public sector net borrowing has posted a deficit £4.40 billion in March, following a revised surplus of £0.70 billion in the previous month. Markets were anticipating public sector net borrowing to show a deficit of £1.50 billion.

The public sector net borrowing (excluding temporary effects of financial interventions) has posted a deficit of £5.10 billion in March in the UK, as compared to a revised deficit of £0.10 billion in the previous month. Market expectation was for public sector net borrowing to post a deficit of £3.10 billion.

UK public sector net cash requirement reported a deficit in March

Public finances (public sector net cash requirement) in the UK has reported a deficit of £34.30 billion in March, following a deficit of £12.90 billion in the previous month.

French business survey overall demand dropped in April

In April, business survey overall demand recorded a drop to 9.00 in France. In the previous month, business survey overall demand had recorded a revised level of 12.00.

French industrial business climate index remained flat in April

In April, the industrial business climate index remained steady at 104.00 in France, meeting market expectations.

French own-company production outlook advanced in April

Own-company production outlook recorded a rise to 14.00 in France, in April, higher than market expectations of a rise to a level of 13.00. Own-company production outlook had registered a revised level of 11.00 in the prior month.

French production outlook indicator surprisingly dropped in April

Compared to a reading of 3.00 in the previous month the production outlook indicator eased unexpectedly to a level of 1.00 in France, in April. Market expectation was for the production outlook indicator to record a flat reading.

Spanish PPI rose in March

The producer price index (PPI) rose 6.00% on an annual basis, in March, in Spain. The PPI had advanced by a revised 7.40% in the previous month.

Spanish PPI dropped in March

The PPI in Spain registered a drop of 0.80% on a MoM basis, in March. In the prior month, the PPI had registered a revised drop of 1.20%.

US Richmond Fed manufacturing index dropped in April

The Richmond Fed manufacturing index dropped to 20.00 in April, in the US, compared to market expectations of a drop to 16.00. The Richmond Fed manufacturing index had recorded a level of 22.00 in the previous month.

US S&P/Case-Shiller composite home price index of 20 metropolitan areas rose more than expected in February

In the US, the S&P/Case-Shiller composite home price index of 20 metropolitan areas rose 5.85% in February on a YoY basis, more than market expectations for a rise of 5.78%. The S&P/Case-Shiller composite home price index of 20 metropolitan areas had registered a revised rise of 5.66% in the previous month.

US housing price index advanced more than expected in February

On a MoM basis in February, the housing price index rose 0.80% in the US, compared to a revised advance of 0.20% in the prior month. Markets were expecting the housing price index to advance 0.40%.

US S&P/Case-Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas rose less than expected in February

On a monthly basis, the seasonally adjusted S&P/Case-Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas in the US registered a rise of 0.69% in February, less than market expectations for an advance of 0.72%. The S&P/Case-Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas had advanced 0.86% in the prior month.

US CB consumer confidence index slid in April

In April, the CB consumer confidence index in the US dropped to 120.30, compared to market expectations of a drop to 122.50. In the previous month, the CB consumer confidence index had registered a revised reading of 124.90.

US new home sales unexpectedly advanced in March

Compared to a revised level of 587.00 K in the prior month, new home sales registered an unexpected rise of 5.80%, on MoM basis, to a level of 621.00 K in March, in the US. Markets were expecting new home sales to ease to 584.00 K.

US Redbook index climbed in the last week

On a MoM basis, the seasonally adjusted Redbook index in the US advanced 1.20% in the week ended 21 April 2017. In the prior week, the Redbook index had registered a similar rise.

US S&P/Case-Shiller home price index rose in February

The S&P/Case-Shiller home price index climbed to 193.49 in the US, in February, compared to a revised level of 192.68 in the prior month.

US Redbook index rose in the last week

In the US, the Redbook index advanced 1.70% in the week ended 21 April 2017 on an annual basis. In the previous week, the Redbook index had recorded a rise of 2.30%.
