UK CBI trends selling prices climbed in August

CBI trends selling prices advanced to 8.00 in August, in the UK. In the previous month, CBI trends selling prices had registered a reading of 5.00.

UK balance of firms reporting total order book above normal slid in August

In August, the balance of firms reporting total order book above normal eased to -5.00 in the UK, higher than market expectations of a fall to a level of -10.00. In the previous month, the balance of firms reporting total order book above normal had registered a level of -4.00.

Eurozone composite PMI advanced surprisingly in August

In August, the preliminary composite PMI registered an unexpected rise to 53.30 in the Eurozone, higher than market expectations of a drop to a level of 53.10. In the prior month, composite PMI had recorded a level of 53.20.

Eurozone services PMI recorded an unexpected rise in August

The preliminary services PMI climbed unexpectedly to a level of 53.10 in the Eurozone, in August, higher than market expectations of a fall to 52.80. In the prior month, services PMI had registered a level of 52.90.

Eurozone manufacturing PMI slid surprisingly in August

The flash manufacturing PMI in the Eurozone eased unexpectedly to a level of 51.80 in August, compared to a reading of 52.00 in the prior month. Market anticipation was for the manufacturing PMI to record a steady reading.

Eurozone consumer confidence index dropped unexpectedly in August

The flash consumer confidence index in the Eurozone eased unexpectedly to a level of -8.50 in August, compared to a reading of -7.90 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the consumer confidence index to rise to -7.70.

German manufacturing PMI recorded a drop in August

In Germany, the preliminary manufacturing PMI registered a drop to 53.60 in August, meeting market expectations. Manufacturing PMI had registered a level of 53.80 in the previous month.

German services PMI registered a surprise drop in August

In August, the flash services PMI in Germany eased unexpectedly to 53.30, lower than market expectations of an unchanged reading. In the prior month, services PMI had recorded a level of 54.40.

French manufacturing PMI eased unexpectedly in August

In France, the preliminary manufacturing PMI recorded an unexpected drop to a level of 48.50 in August, compared to a reading of 48.60 in the prior month. Market expectation was for manufacturing PMI to rise to 48.80.

French services PMI rose surprisingly in August

The preliminary services PMI climbed unexpectedly to 52.00 in August, in France, compared to a level of 50.50 in the prior month. Market anticipation was for services PMI to record a flat reading.

Swiss exports climbed in July

On a MoM basis, exports advanced 5.50% in Switzerland, in July. Exports had dropped by a revised 4.00% in the prior month.

Swiss imports registered a rise in July

In Switzerland, imports rose 9.20% on a monthly basis, in July. In the previous month, imports had dropped 4.00%.

Swiss trade surplus slid in July

Trade surplus in Switzerland fell to CHF 2.93 billion in July, compared to a revised trade surplus of CHF 3.51 billion in the previous month.

US Richmond Fed manufacturing index fell in August

The Richmond Fed manufacturing index recorded a drop to -11.00 in August, lower than market expectations of a drop to a level of 6.00. In the previous month, the Richmond Fed manufacturing index had registered a level of 10.00.

US new home sales recorded an unexpected rise in July

New home sales recorded an unexpected rise of 12.40%, on MoM basis, to a level of 654.00 K in the US, in July, compared to market expectations of 580.00 K. In the prior month, new home sales had recorded a revised reading of 582.00 K.

US Redbook index fell in the last week

The seasonally adjusted Redbook index fell 0.40% on a monthly basis in the US, in the week ended 19 August 2016. In the prior week, the Redbook index had recorded a drop of 0.30%.

US Markit manufacturing PMI declined in August

Compared to a level of 52.90 in the previous month the preliminary Markit manufacturing PMI eased to 52.10 in the US, in August. Markets were anticipating the Markit manufacturing PMI to fall to 52.60.

Chinese leading economic index advanced in July

The leading economic index in China rose 0.70% in July on a monthly basis. The leading economic index had recorded a rise of 0.50% in the previous month.
