FRANKFURT--Adidas AG said on Monday that it achieved record sales in Germany, Austria and Switzerland during 2014.
The world's No. 2 sportswear maker said it sales in the region totaled 1 billion euros ($1.13 billion). The numbers were released ahead of the international sporting goods fair, ISPO, which starts in Munich on Thursday.
The company said its 'Germany jersey' and other equipment related to the Soccer World Cup were "key to the success." In total, the Adidas's soccer product sales in its home country Germany increased more than 30% in 2014, boosted by the German team's World Cup victory in July.
"Consumers are more in the mood to buy than they have been for a very long time, and they are showing a palpable desire to buy Adidas and Reebok," Winand Krawinkel, Adidas's managing director for Central Europe, said.
Last month, Adidas reported that it had reached its profit target of EUR650 million in 2014, and that currency-adjusted group sales had increased 6% over the same period.
