Hi topazfrenzy,

I'd be happy if we get to 50p this year !

The $300M was spent by Xstrata (in the boom times) before they were taken over by Glencore in a fire sale in 2013, as such I don't think you can say that Glencore , the current J/V partner, have $300M 'worth' of their 2017 'money of the day' skin in the game....Still a fair wodge, though.

The original JV agreement with Xstrata gave optionality, including their 'one time ' right to buy ZIOC out at NPV.

I wonder if that option was included in the current agreement between Glencore and ZIOC ?

These could well be heading back to £1 in 2017 :)

They were at over £2 in 2011 and there's been no dilution since and the project is much more advanced since.

Glencore keeping hold of it when they took over XStrata and spending $300 Million for the FS is sign that they want to press on with it at some point, 2017 could be the year this truly soars back to fair value.

ZIOC estimated NAV circa £1.3 Billion!

Only 75 Million shares in public hands, so keep grabbing them if you can, this is not one to trade as there is so much more coming here.

Environmental Licence could see it re-rate straight to 30p - 50p, and that is due any time now.

Good thing is NOT OPEN TO SELL or short selling and almost 80% held in private hands. China looking good for steel demand, high grade iron looking good too. Glencore looking good too as a result.

Added today - agree this will be a winner; just need to be patient.

Huge potential but a few hurdles to get over first.

I'm thinking Glencore will be more impatient than me.

From the Edison Research report on ZIOC from December 2011 (based on $70 iron ore price):

'Our base-case valuation of the Zanaga project is US$4.3bn in current money terms (discounted to FY11 at 10% to account for the opportunity cost of capital). In our valuation we used a 10% nominal discount rate and applied a 25% haircut to ZIOC’s attributable value to account for the lack of control, as the project is effectively managed by Xstrata. It implies ZIOC’s attributable value of US$1.7bn or US$6.0 per share (£3.8/share).'

Amazing the market has not woken up to this one yet!

You should make your money back many times over here thetoonarmy2, it's in its final stages now, before the project advances to development and I believe that Glencore can strike at any time since they have first options and manage the project. At $2 Billion outlay to get it to production it's not much for them any more since they have recovered dramatically in the last year. Zanaga is the biggest and finest grade iron ore project/reserves in Africa, so they won't want to let go of it.

80p + could well be the figure they may strike to get the project, hopefully more, maybe with a Chinese partner.
