13/2/2019 09:31 | Hi all, Meanwhile (and which may explain the timing of DSK's visit to C-B), Africa Intelligence reports today 13 Feb that China is delaying the start of works to the SEZ at Pointe Noire (and suspending its planned SEZ's in Brazzaville, Ouesso and Oyo-Ollombo - Nguesso's home town). hxxps://www.africain The Chinese have also reportedly refused to prefinance the 700 hectare PN works, which includes an est. Euro 150million in costs of land expropriation. [As an aside, that's pretty pricey 'compensation' : I wonder how many landowners are 'connected' ?] The stumbling block is said to be that Chinese funds are conditional on IMF agreement re C-B debt restructuring...R Not really 'new news', then, but other potential sources of finance will likely sit on their hands unless/until some face-saving formula is found. 12/2/2019 15:03 | Hi all, A post-script to the previous : Also posted elsewhere, it was 'pulled' there by the moderators , apparently at the request of 'a reputable source external to the website', which is interesting in itself. As we all know, there's potentially a lot to play for. ATB | extrader |
