06/4/2019 20:55 | Whats thoughts on this one? Gross Profit of 13.7m (up 28%), Earnings Per Share 9.6p (up 33%) Reports suggest allot of contracts and work ahead of it. Im reading 24m cash (might be wrong here) PE is at 59 Negatives: profit is on low side against market cap. | hsduk101
19/10/2018 10:32 | welcome to YouGov's world. There's a bad culture of excpetionalitis here and very modest cash profits that do not justify the valuation! w1 | woozle1
10/10/2018 13:51 | YouGov a great business to own in your investment portfolio. But today’s valuation appears too high and is due for a short-term correction. | walbrock82
30/10/2017 08:37 | Look out for my article in the latest @ShareSocUK newsletter on accounting for growth which focusses on #YouGov's disingenuous adjusted earnings. You'll need to be a member of ShareSoc to access the article. https://www.sharesoc | boros10
16/10/2017 11:30 | One more thing. EPS is adjusted for £7m of intangibles: these are the costs of running the panel and IT interface. For an online company to argue that these costs are not fundamental to the running of the business and should be excluded from the EPS calculation is absurd. And to get to the unadjusted P&L you have to scroll right down! So adj EPS is £14m when real EPS £7m or 4.4p versus the share price of 3.30 ='s p/e of 75 times. Put another way it makes £4.6m of earnings versus a market cap of £363m. This thing trades on vapours and no wonder the FD is off. This would be screaming short if I was so minded. w1 | woozle1
16/10/2017 11:12 | Used to be in this and bought at 35p and sold at 1.50. A bit gutted that it's doubled since but ultimately I was put off by the accounting culture and far too many exceptionals. They used to expense the costs of the panel but that is capitalised. I expected more accounting integrity from company where the founding shareholders are still involved. | woozle1
09/10/2017 10:05 | Good set of results | pillion
09/1/2017 18:31 | Anyone else thinking this looks a good short to take out? | longshanks
28/11/2016 11:15 | ...and the Director share sales continue... | wirralowl
11/10/2016 12:12 | This thread and analysis by Paul Scott is essential reading for any shareholder in YOU or indeed potential investors... I note that directors have happily been selling shares over the past year or so and at much lower prices. | davidosh
09/8/2016 11:42 | Chaps, I'm not sure why this thread is so quiet... You Gov has been on my watchlist for a while as i did not have cash. Can anyone provide detail or examples on the exceptional items? Thanks | iamkhan
24/3/2016 16:59 | As quiet as the amount of cash the company generates! Used to be in this but got fed with all the exceptional items. | woozle1
17/3/2016 15:24 | Results on Monday. What a quiet thread. | twiggy2
08/5/2015 15:22 | Yougov's credibility is surely damaged by their misjudgement of the election result. Being able to say that the other pollsters also called it wrong is no excuse. I used to be on a Yougov panel, and although I gave honest replies, I was doing so for the rewards offered, and it occurred to me at the time that there must other panel members giving dishonest answers just to collect rewards for filling in the form - fill more forms, get more rewards. They amended the system but it still seemed too easily corrupted. | m.t.glass
21/10/2014 13:43 | QS99 -- you should read that blog from Mr Scott .. it makes perfect sense .. They've been capitalising stuff for quite some time and not v happy that the panel is not being expensed .. the cost base is still too high ..W | woozle1
21/10/2014 07:39 | Let's hope this major move North continues today.... | qs99
20/10/2014 12:02 | Cheers, much appreciated. Like you not sure where markets are heading. Am still in OPAY as think there will be more upgrades and has come back down to a sensible rating at 18 times next year given growth story IMO. otherwise am looking at individual plays like the WIN debt to equity value flip, SYNT massive director buying and STVG looking oversold IMO... DTG is an interesting one, just that all airlines etc have been hammered... good lulck | qs99
20/10/2014 11:47 | To be honest, I'm feeling pretty clueless at the moment. Not sure that there's that much on the horizon. I bought these and a few others during the financial crisis and have done pretty well. I'm keeping an eye on all the online retailers that are getting smacked. All look too expensive but there might be an opportunity to get in at reasonable prices. Looking at ASC, AO. BOO and Zooplus (GR). I like buying ex-GOGO stocks which have warned a few times. YouGov was in that category, as was Optimal Payments (ex-Neteller). I've still a v large position in Dart, which is still v cheap. W | woozle1
20/10/2014 11:36 | well done you Woozle1 triple your money is a great shout! I'll see re shares mags...thnx. Anything else you think will triple? hehe | qs99
20/10/2014 11:28 | It must have been tipped in one of the share mags. Just sold out my entire holding of 200,000 shares after reading Mr Scott's article on their accounting. They have a history of exceptionals and I've never liked the fact that they capitalise the costs of the panel. V happy as I bought these in the doldrums at 37p. | woozle1
20/10/2014 10:22 | and still very quiet....despite 7% rise... | qs99
20/10/2014 09:27 | OK who lit the fuse? | qs99
17/10/2014 14:23 | a very quiet board this one.... | qs99 |
