I agree, 7kiwi. The motivation for my sell was based on the gamble of that anticipation of a final leg down before we finally see real price discovery in the U market and thus, hopefully here too. I think we are in a bear market rally right now, but not for many days longer. Hence also selling a few other positions for a smaller profit than I would otherwise have sought. I needed more dry powder. Appreciate that 400-odd might be the low and I might have to buy back at a higher price. The risk you take. GLA.

rota,

I expect YCA to go much higher in the fulness of time. Not sure if this is the moment risk comes back into the market. It can't be far away, but there might be another leg down yet.

I am out again. Markets looking great, especially across the pond. Almost euphoria. Probably too early to exit again, but I of course hope to be able to rejoin soon. Hope, rather than expectation, on my part. GLA.

7Kiwi . Thanks . I’m sure people here already know this , but a massive deterrent for private investors in putting money into nuclear power stations in the U.K. is that they only started to see returns once the project was finished and operating . The Telegraph article states that the pensions fund , Phoenix , which is interested , is in talks with government , but that it will only invest if the funding model is overhauled so that companies building plants would be paid during the construction phase , cutting down their development risk and and allowing them to secure cheaper funding . We certainly need this because I believe that the U.K. had 15 nuclear plants in 2020 , but that we’ll only have 3 by 2030 . Anyway , this only relates to the U.K. , whereas I believe there are 400 nuclear power stations worldwide .

MrN,

I think this was the intention behind some of the recent announcement by the Government. Long term investment for long term returns in nuclear power.

On page 3 of the Business and Money section of today’s Sunday Telegraph , there’s an article titled “ Pensions giant preparing to back nuclear renaissance “ . The article states “ Andy Briggs , chief executive of pensions giant Phoenix Group , said he has been in talks with the Government about investing in nuclear power infrastructure and is exploring how it could support the creation of new plants . His support is unusual for the [ pensions ] industry , with pension companies usually avoiding nuclear because of the huge up-front costs involved “ .

Just sold out
U.un moved to approx 6% discount
Spot down slightly overnight
Still banging its head on resistance at £4

Long term I love this, but greedily hoping for the discount to open again

Not sure trading this will work out as good as just buy and hold (probably not) but it sure feels good to take a profit on something during this market turmoil

Just my ramblings

U.un discount narrowed to under 3% yesterday vs 15% discount at yca

Should mean a sharp rally here

Wondering if sput will trade at a premium later today

We shall see

Sea7, according to John Quakes on twitter

Even if Kazatomprom is able to resume full production in 2025, seems very unlikely any new supply will go to western utilities.⚠5039; #Kazakhstan has a deal with #China to fill a 23,000tU (60 Million lbs #U3O8) #Uranium storage facility by 2026, taking all $KAP's available lbs

The uranium producer stated in its mid-year financial statement that it has the confidence to target 2024 uranium output that will be 2000–3000 tU (tonnes of elemental uranium) over the anticipated 2023 level, thanks to mid-term and long-term contracts.

Added 5k just now - perhaps the sma 200 will hold as it bounced of it earlier, there is currently a 22% discount to NAV and we will benefit as u308 is priced in dollars

Next tranche at £3.50 if it gets there

I have retaken a small position here, even though I am sure I could have got cheaper, had I been more patient. Will buy more if we revisit sub 360 on no relevant news. GLA.

Sky,

I don't rule it out in these turbulent markets. But even taking into account the small dip in U3O8 today to $49/lb mid, the NAV is 470p, due to the pound plunging. That puts us at a discount to NAV of nearly 20%.

The 200day SMA at 369p would be a good entry point:

Back to a very substantial deficit to NAV, over 14% because GBP has fallen and the U3O8 spot price is ticking up again, so surely the share price should start to recover again soon.
