SCSW today: The shares shot back over £2 after Xaar’s pre-close statement said it expects to report sales for FY21 of £59m, up 23% on FY20 (12% organic excluding the acquisition of FFEI). Good cost management actions mean it will report a modest profit for the second half of the year, rather than the £1.6m loss brokers had been expecting. Net cash at the year end was £25.2m.
In particular, the printhead business performed well with its printheads being incorporated into a new generation of machines being designed by several customers, and FFEI (which contributed £6m to sales) has been helping in this regard. Xaar continues to successfully roll out the ImagineX platform and launched two new products - Xaar Nitrox last April and Xaar Irix in September.
Xaar said it has secured sufficient inventory to meet expected FY22 production requirements. Panmure forecasts a move into the black this year with a £1m profit on sales of £62.2m. Continue to add.

Positive that they expect to declare a profit for the second half, but notable that they are still not yet cash generative (3D monies excluded). Still plenty of cash on the books though.

Applications for hydrogen

Transportation is not the only application for hydrogen, says Van Grondelle. Hydrogen solutions can also serve as balancers for the existing networks. “Batteries are still relatively expensive and complicated. But the electricity network is about to be overloaded. Hydrogen-powered solutions can serve as buffers.â€A533;

Another application is what Van Grondelle calls ‘green chemistryâ€482;, where hydrogen is used to create carbon molecules that can serve as building blocks for other chemical substances. Hydrogen can also play an important role in the production of fertilizer and the food industry.
