27/2/2014 11:32 | WMH has still not broken out of downtrend in place since start of Aug 2013. Needs to close above c385p to confirm breakout. RSI slightly overbought but MACD back in positive territory. Results may just define whether breakout is likely to occur in the near future. Aimho. | speedsgh

23/2/2014 13:42 | Betting leaders' letter in defence of fixed-odds gaming Gaming chiefs say facts are being ignored in emotional focus on problem gambling In 1961, the UK Government took the decision to legalise off-course betting shops because it was understood that effective regulation was far better than prohibition. Today, a visit to the local bookies remains a safe and popular pastime for eight million customers each year and our industry has evolved over time as new forms of gambling have become popular, including gaming machines since 2002. The modern betting sector is a highly regulated and responsible industry. Not only do we operate under strict rules imposed by the Gambling Commission and local authorities, but we go much further than our legal obligations. We do this because we believe it is the right thing to do for our customers and we have been working for many months to address growing concerns over gaming machines. The overwhelming majority of our machine customers gamble responsibly. Problem gambling levels in the UK are low by international standards amounting to around half a percent of the population, and have not increased since the introduction of gaming machines in betting shops or the inception of online gambling. But we are not complacent as all gambling products have the capacity to cause harm to a small number of individuals. As an industry we have worked closely together on developing a new Code for Responsible Gambling and extra safeguards on the use of gaming machines will be implemented this week. They include enforced breaks with automatic alerts on money and time spent both for the customers themselves and, importantly, our staff. We have trained nearly 40,000 staff to look out for signs of problem gambling behaviour and how best to approach customers who might need help. The Code is only the first step and we are committed to adding more effective measures soon. We also fully endorse the Government's call for an 'evidence based debate' on gaming machines. That is why the betting industry is funding independent machines research commissioned by the Responsible Gambling Trust and providing full access to data on patterns of play. People who bet responsibly and return are the bedrock of our businesses. We do not want our customers to develop problems. The launch of the Code this week demonstrates our determination to address concerns about problem gambling. | shugsy

20/2/2014 16:58 | Short position being aggressively reduced now also, disclosure just released. One fund slashed their short position by 14% yesterday, so looks like it could run and run as they switch to long. Short position now 1.9% here.... 400 here we come.. | 2ngh
20/2/2014 16:55 | Really strong auction pushing it to close at HOD. Should now gap up and run, 360's tomorrow followed by 380 resistance end of next week before results. If they up the dividend in the results next Friday then onto 400 and above. Goldman's buy rating and 450 price target will help over the next few weeks as they rarely get it wrong and the markets tend to listen. Positive info on US and OZ and we could be onto 500 and above quick time. | 2ngh
