I dined at a beefeater today and couldn't believe what I heard. Some problems over Christmas and new year with distribution of food. When I arrived today the waiter told me their were a few food items missing (yeah this often happens so not worried). Ordered drinks and sat down with the menus and couldn't believe that major food items like chicken meals are not on menu. Beef lasagne not in stock and pizzas too. A group who arrived after left |
What a tiresome stock 🤣 |
Back over 3000 |
That’s AJ Bell for you 🤣 |
Same here, and I've always considered this a potential takeover target. As for not cheap, they've having a laugh. |
I’d put money on it! Oops I already have 🤣 |
Best one of my lot by a mile today 😉👍
2025 must surely be a better year for the shareprice. |
Might be moving on the back of the Sunday Times mention of a possible takeover target
Whitbread (€5.2 billion) A private equity bidder or a rival operator looking for a foothold in Britain could take advantage of the lowly share price of the Premier Inn owner, AJ Bell said, although it was not cheap |
Low volume but a miserable end to what's been a very poor year for holding WTB. |
Another afternoon turn around. Could even finish blue. |
I’m wondering why we seem to fall in the mornings and recover in the afternoon. Could there be US buyers? |
Clutching at straws. |
Over 0.5%, how many are under that level?. |
Only 2% short interest. Increased costs will affect competitors as well so customers of the higher priced competition may well choose PI instead. |
I was hoping the drops would occur in jan next year - looks like could be beginnings now )-: |
This is also Germany, but the budget has not helped.
Shorters targeted WTB long before Labour took power.
Yes the current government has been a net negative to this point. |
blame Labour - economy was on the up till they got in - since then all macro data worse, growth down, budget a disaster - bring back Rishi |
It's been a hopeless investment for 2024 .... -20% |
The increase in NIC and min wage will hurt them there is no doubt about that, as will increases in contractors charges and wholesale costs of food and consumables, but they'll just reduce the workforce and expect more from fewer staff already on min wage.
But a lot of businesses will be in the same boat, it's not specific to Whitbread.
The only caveat is a reduction in busines rates but that will be negligible for businesses the size of Whitbread.. |
Below 2900 is a shame. Hopefully upwards in 25 |
hope you're right - read last night Robbie Burns aka naked trader is now short on Whitbread - let's hope he gets burnt |
A lot less than other operators. White read has the lowest employee cost per revenue |
Is there any indication off how much the NIC rise will hurt Whitbread ? |
