We'll find out soon enough how Xmas has been but I would expect travel sales (airports NOT railways) to be beyond market expectations, with 2023 looking very good

"Current consensus suggests an average exchange rate of GBP:USD of 1.30"

Some upside there then

PE of 36 is pretty high for a retailer, even a growth retailer. Airport retailing is the big earner, especially LHR being the most profitable but this is a little pricy given the risks..

Huge turnaround. Revenue up to pre pandemic levels. Profit and eps hugely improved from last year's loss.

"The Group has had a strong year and is now trading ahead of 2019 levels. We continue to capitalise on multiple growth opportunities

"2022 has been a successful year for WHSmith and we enter the new financial year with the Group in its strongest ever position as a global travel retailer with multiple growth opportunities across the world.

"Our InMotion technology stores have had a very good year. We now have over 150 InMotion stores open, including 36 outside of the US. Our recently opened stores in the UK are trading ahead of our initial expectations and we have received excellent feedback from customers and landlords. We see significant scope to grow the brand globally.

"We have started the year well and, while there is economic uncertainty, travel patterns globally continue to improve and this, combined with the strength of the Group's growth opportunities, means that we are well positioned for a year of significant progress in 2023."

I presume you dont think there is an issue with the company only with the markets? ANyone holding should not sell now imo. Even if there is a market capitulation in the next week, this looks good value against its peers and given it global market, and it will bounce back.

Its where they have opened the stores. The company has a smart strategy imo. If the £ remains weak in the short term that wont harm either. I can envisage Smiths being integrated into InMotion in the UK in due course

These figures look impressive particularly when you consider travel is still severely restricted (flight cancellations, rail strikes etc). But on the other hand these are not like for like comparisons and they have opened more outlets since 2019 haven't they? High street still declining but margins likely to be OK due to cost savings. Note the rent comment

Peel Hunt have reiterated a strong buy with £23 target. Strong international growth over next 2 years or so not reflected in share price currently they think. They are winning lots of shops in travel.

YOu've got thousands of folk a day arriving three hours early for their flight. THe delays arent in the neqws but the travellors are in WHSmiths. THe US is also wherer this company is headed.

...and importantly the company now anticipates the full year outturn to be at the higher end of analysts' expectations.
