07/11/2011 14:38 | v strong update added on weakness this am | phillis
07/11/2011 13:54 | Very solid results, however even the slightest hint of caution is currently being punished. | essentialinvestor
07/11/2011 10:08 | Mmmm. Outsourcing production can be risky for this type of company. Do you know which part? apad | apad
07/11/2011 09:53 | APAD:- None while I was listening - Not sure if there is a planned replay - Could not see anything on the coy web site. Only potential problem I can envisage is if there is a severe contaction in demand. Some of current demand is being met by outsourcing part of the production process. | pugugly
07/11/2011 09:00 | PUG Couldn't find the conference call on the Web. Were there any questions about debt? apad | apad
07/11/2011 08:59 | "Net debt at 30th September 2011 was higher than that reported at 1st July 2011 with further investment in working capital, also anticipated in Q4, supporting ongoing business growth, and providing the platform for delivery in 2012 of the expected record year end order book." How much higher? Capital expenditure from debt is not what I expected. apad | apad
07/11/2011 08:57 | Good solids results in my opinion. People are such lemmings they don't know which way to run. | tratante
07/11/2011 08:50 | ims and conference call very encouraging - Looks as though the market were expecting more BUT (imo) still a strong hold at the moment given order backlog, and strong energy demand. (imo & dyor) Other views ? | pugugly
28/10/2011 17:12 | Yes interesting points made above by Mas which might well explain the solid performance this week. Feeling quite chuffed. I had taken out three sizeable spreadbets on Weir over the last few weeks the first, I kept buying at a low target and every time it reached a certain point I sold (this one has now been called in at a solid profit). The second, I kept the same low buy point but kept increasing the sell point (again now closed at a very good overall gain ) and the third, I have just kept going (this one is now in huge four figure gain). All together made some very big gains. This has just helped to recover the losses suffered in the previous month or two and I am now in a gain situation - just. This has a long way to go yet, I am sure. I am happy to hold stock as well - long term. | greek islander
28/10/2011 16:08 | Management statement next week, then. Maybe Monday by the look of the price action this afternoon! From an intra-day low of 1368 to 2000+ in a couple of weeks makes this a strong hold. Somebody knows something we don't? | phil140158
28/10/2011 09:28 | yes, these are not often thought of as a take over candidate, but could get gobbled up by one of the big global conglomerates. Wouldn't like that to happen too soon mind. | tratante
27/10/2011 15:25 | Hi phil, yes v strong hold/buy. £25 current target, or a takeover. | scottishfield
27/10/2011 15:19 | .......and management statement yet to come. Strong hold, I think! | phil140158
27/10/2011 12:41 | Thank you, what a great day overall, dow futures are up also, so yanks hopefully will join the party.I feel that we may rally now to xmas, not straight line of course. Then the worry beads may make another appearance, but who knows! | scottishfield
27/10/2011 12:39 | Good timimg Scottishfield. | tratante
24/10/2011 15:46 | indeed tratante. I bought some more this morning (not in a panic however !) | scottishfield
24/10/2011 13:32 | may get a bit of panic buying here as people realise they might miss out on the current oversold price ahead of the update, makes a change! | tratante
23/10/2011 19:46 | The interim statement will show the extent of WEIR's growth rate, and then the modest valuation will be clear for all to see. Glad I'm still holding the 'family shares' and I think a modest long spread bet is worth a punt. Might hold off 'til the end of the week though!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | phil140158
23/10/2011 13:07 | Weir is the MFM Slater Growth Fund featured stock of the month. "The company remains modestly valued in relation to its growth rate" I would assume that they have started accumulating here but do not yet have sufficient shares to exceed the notification threshold or to feature in the Funds own top ten holdings. Weir is also held within the MFM Slater Recovery Fund too but again the size of their existing investment does not qualify it for a ranking within their top ten holdings. | masurenguy
21/10/2011 10:16 | Dip still there - loads of potential here very volatile share price at the moment seems capable of 10% rise at any moment and equally 10% fall back. Ideal spreadbet material. Set yourself a high and a low figure and just keep selling at the high ( I keep inching this up) and buying at the low - has proved very profitable so far. | greek islander
21/10/2011 09:53 | I totally agree Greek, these are being hammered by the general sentiment and blind panic, but suspect today's price will look very cheap in 6 months. This is a solid company that is really going places. Stated aim to double profits by 2014. Wish I could have afforded to buy more in the recent dip! | tratante
21/10/2011 09:26 | Looking good again - Weir, as it should be, looks unusually solid. Don't know about a bid - possible - but these remain heavily undervalued and I'm sure will respond to even the slightest upturn in market conditions. Good luck to all holders. | greek islander
21/10/2011 08:24 | must be bid rumours, was up 8.5% on now news, looking good! | twixm100
21/10/2011 08:19 | quite a start ! | scottishfield
19/10/2011 12:49 | yes phil, absolutely. | scottishfield |
